|A lot of damage has been done to this business over the last couple of years, and imo this is mainly due to management being too busy trying to grow the top line (revenue), which has very much come at the expense of the bottom line (profits - or lack of them).
Lets face it, Quantum Plus was a very good award-winning business, although imo never worth the £5m+ Cornwell paid for it. It then comes into the Cornwell stable and underperforms, joining the rump of the Cornwell consulting business which has been struggling for a while. There are two good business here once you streamline admin / labour costs, but imo synergies are limited and I can't see the natural fit of Quantum with the rest of the consulting business.
I think talk of administration is very premature at this stage, the company still has no long-term debt, and there is an increased overdraft facility in place, the company does turn over a significant amount of cash each year compared to mkt cap.
I actually believe imo that there will be an MBO, either for the full or part of the business. If the company did fail then I think it would be very difficult for the business to come back in any form, due to a loss of customer credibility. If you can't run your own business, why should customers let the Cornwell team run theirs. I think CWM management will obviously be very much aware of this.
The business is made up of a large number of high worth individuals who should have no problems in raising the necessary finances for an MBO, although I think a bid for the whole company now would probably only fall in the £5m price region that CWM paid for Quantum - which is a relatively small part of group revenues / profits.

|Summary of the CWM workforce.....
A shepherd is herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a
brand-new BMW advances out of the dust cloud towards him. The
driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban
sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the
"If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock,
willyou give me one?"
The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at
hispeacefully-grazing flock and calmly answers, "Sure."
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his IBM Thinkpad and
connects itto a cell phone, then he surfs to a NASA page on the internet
wherehe calls up a GPS satellite navigation system, scans the area,
and then opens up a database and an Excel spreadsheet with complex
formulas. He sends an email on his Blackberry and, after a few
minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a 130 page
report on his miniaturized printer then turns to the shepherd and
says, "You have exactly 1586 sheep."
"That right; take one of the sheep," says the shepherd.
He watches the young man select one of the animals and bundle it
into his car. Then the shepherd says: "If I can tell you exactly what your
business is, will you give me back my animal?"
"OK, why not?" answers the young man.
"Clearly, you are a Cornwell consultant," pronounces the shepherd.
"That's right," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
"No guessing required," answers the shepherd. "You turned up here
although nobody called you. You want to get paid for an answer I
already knew, to a question I never asked, and you don't know a
thing about my business....
Now give me back my dog and get outta here."|
|morale high then?
1.2p doesn't seem very optimistic!|
|Once we write of the £5m of good will we will sell this little mess for 1.2pence per share and some of us will of course have new employers to answer to...still we did try !|
|Figures suggest imminent administration........|
|A dog with no balls.
Any bid must be in the 5p region if one comes at all...................|
|Shame you cant admit when you bail out of a stock, i bet you're fans
would desert you if they knew you were dumping stocks as you were pumping
them....especially PPR, i bet you are quietly buying them back for 1.25p
ahead of the next push :-))|
|I never claim not to pick losers Daydreamer - I pointed out how you fail to take responsibility for your own decissions and blame everyone else.
Sad your brain doesn't absorb that - but it's only you that thinks you're perfect lol.
|We all pick losers from time to time cr, i will quite happily bring
to the top all your dud share picks if you wish :-))
|But why the drop today??|
|Say's it all really, if management consultants are unable to run their own ship profitably, then this company will fail.....beware !|
|Nice agm statement today giving the shares a little bounce. The 10k sell showing here on adv is actually a buy!.|
