04/1/2012 08:57 | Cookson having a little rest this morning after such strenuous climbing yesterday | robertfaulkner
03/1/2012 16:19 | Thanks Peter, it was just that it appeared today, admittedly late in the day when we got this good rise. Now share price apreaching 540p, up 5.4% in a day. | robertfaulkner
03/1/2012 15:55 | all companies do blocklisting rns. I'ts a LSE requirement, entirely technical and can be ignored in relation to the company's prospects. | peter27
03/1/2012 15:31 | well above 535p, lets hope it closes above 530p | robertfaulkner
03/1/2012 14:21 | Is this rise(now kissing 530p!!!!) because of good news out of China. At 14:00 today an RNS about Blocklisting????? does anybody understand it? Seems to be to do with ex share options | robertfaulkner
03/1/2012 09:40 | Hopefully will stay above £5 | kazz
03/1/2012 09:34 | Cook having a Happy New Year up 2.5% today | robertfaulkner
30/12/2011 09:22 | Touch wood it can stay above 500p then in the New Year let's hope for some good news for the stock market. B O E saying very low interest rate till 2014 now, should help companies like Cook with dividends | robertfaulkner
29/12/2011 17:13 | Really think there is some decent support here. About time for a quality company! Happy new year everybody | barlick
21/12/2011 17:19 | Amazing on such a bad retrace of Ftse that Cook stayed Blue, as you say good sentiment. | robertfaulkner
21/12/2011 17:06 | Got to 500 briefly but no glue! Sentiment OK though? | barlick
21/12/2011 09:07 | Cook having a nice little rise on the Ftse retracing from morning high, straight up to 500p. Now we need a bit of Christmas rally on the fTSE and a 505p close is on the cards | robertfaulkner
21/12/2011 08:55 | We could see 500p today but will it stick? | robertfaulkner
20/12/2011 17:17 | Thought the share price was pretty resilient today. I tend to trade between Cookson & Xstrata so today was a good day. A positive IMS would be good - sooner or later. | barlick
19/12/2011 20:30 | £5 would be a nice start, we just need China to perk up and Cksn should be on it'd way to 600p (as long as it can can keep increasing it's dividends) | robertfaulkner
15/12/2011 13:41 | Would be nice to see this back over £5 again, and stay there! | kazz
29/11/2011 10:08 | Yes it was! Long gone! Worked there but glad to see Cookson busy! Agency workers seem to be the way forward in such volatile times. Companies dont want the overheads associated with permanent employees. Temporaries will work hard to try to impress so that one day they become permanent....... | malinkie
28/11/2011 23:21 | Hi Malinkie, I'm not sure what Howdon is, is it a Cookson's plant in Tyne and Wear? My only working experience with Cooksons was as a ckerk at 17 years old, working in London about 45 tears ago. I only lasted a couple of years. My talking about agency workers was just my general opinion formed over the years | robertfaulkner
28/11/2011 19:33 | RF Was it Howdon you worked at? | malinkie
28/11/2011 18:16 | Thanks Upson, always nice to hear from real company experience. I wonder why your division doesn't have the correct number of employees for 90% of the maximum business expected, OK you will have some quiet times but when 100% of the work turns up I'm sure the then all full time employees would pull out all the stops and get 100% output from 90% capacity employees. I always found agency workers just don't have the commitment(and I don't blame them) | robertfaulkner
28/11/2011 14:59 | Robert Sorry for the delayed reply, had a busy weekend. Not sure why the sharesave scheme was stopped. You couldn't lose really, as you got a discount on the share price and if after the chosen period (3 or 5 years) the share price had gone down you could choose not to have the shares, but have your money back plus some interest. Maybe CKSN were losing out some way or another? As for the general feelings amongst colleagues, this is very much in line with how busy we are. We keep a core workforce holding permanent positions with Temps being brought in when things are busy. In very busy times we then have agency workers come in, which can sometimes only be for a matter of weeks, A big talking point at the moment is of pensions. Don't they make pensions nice and easy to understand, just like when comparing energy suppliers! | upsondowns
25/11/2011 18:53 | UpsonDowns Were it me I would leave it alone. A comment about how busy you are or the general sentiment is one thing but anything more specific could be dangerous I think. Up to you of course but be careful. | barlick
24/11/2011 08:49 | Barlick Hi I'm not currently invested here but have been in and out over an 8 year period, firstly through the sharesave scheme, which is no longer available. As you might have gathered, that through me used to being a member of the share scheme I am an employer of cookson. Dont get excited, I just work at a factory in england - Vesuvius in Chesterfield/Sheepbr Would it be incriminating of me as an employer of a small part of cookson to give any small info I have of say orders and manufacturing conditions that I'm privy to? It wouldn't be anything major as obviously our site is just a drop in the ocean to cksn. | upsondowns
23/11/2011 17:39 | RobertFaulkner As a point I am not a great fan of limit buys for a falling share price You could find it activated at the begining of a large drop. Were it me I would monitor it myself & buy at 18p having sensed the market sentiment that day. As for Cookson, today was very disappointing & unless there is some positive sentiment tomorrow I am a gonna. Good luck for your investing future - think we will need it in the short term!! | barlick |
