27/9/2010 10:21 | I'm still having difficulty...it's the only one....guess I'll have to try again later. | cardiffian
27/9/2010 10:13 | fine for me.. | wolterix
27/9/2010 10:08 | I'm having problems accessing the website, are they adding something? Can somebody check accessibility. | cardiffian
27/9/2010 09:42 | small punt here, not entirely sure why! the lure of bright lights and glamour I s'pose.. | wolterix
27/9/2010 09:35 | agree PG a long way to go and no signs as yet that management have a plan to get us there, but another tick up this am on small volume is interesting. The AGM on Wed should have an IMS/trading update with it, so won't be long till we see if there is something going on to warrant this small movement. | diesel
25/9/2010 20:16 | There is such a long way to go. I was here in 06. It doesn't seem to be motoring just yet. There doesn't appear to be anything justifying a fresh investment. I don't think the directors are courting shareholders like they did in 05 and 06. | peel green
24/9/2010 17:41 | sorry to say this Cardif..but that's why CFL are handling the distribution. The big budget films are tied up with the studios and big boys. Having said that I've watched many of the films theat CFL distribute and some are really good but that doesn't always convert into box office success or big bucks. Fireworks is where the monry is and digital does seem to be gaining traction from a very low start. | diesel
23/9/2010 22:40 | I've just finished watching 'World's Greatest Dad' via Blinkx and it's definitely not a 'Hollywood' film. If it wasn't for Robin Williams' presence in it, it would have been something bordering on amateur movie status and I probably would have switched off at some point. The acting was professional enough all around but the storyline was just too far-fetched. Overall, the film was good but unusual, I didn't notice the time go by while watching the film so that must be a positive sign. I just feel it lacked that Hollywood touch to make the grade, a shame really. All IMHO. | cardiffian
23/9/2010 20:48 | I see we have an AGM next week, it's traditional to give a trading statement at the same time so another anti-climax? | diesel
23/9/2010 19:27 | Here you go: and here's a link to Mipcom 2010. If you track the changing images of exhibitors on the left of the page which run alphabetically, Firework's stand comes up between Endemol and Fremantle. I'm guessing it's an archive image, perhaps from 2009. The 2nd link is for this year's stand's location which is in the 'Riviera Beach Hall'. I don't know where they were last year, maybe it was the same spot ? | cardiffian
23/9/2010 19:16 | Cardif..a quick scan at Vue cinemas reveals that it only showing at 1 location! that's the trouble with the independant films. the big cinema chains sign up the big studio releases, CFL are always going to be the "guest beer". As for the share price today, with the spread that this share has, noone is going to try to influence the price by trading, this has got to be a mark up by the MM's, maybe on some bigger buying interest being shown, let's see what tomorrow brings. | diesel
23/9/2010 19:03 | It was somebody reading my mind, diesel. Just 30 mins earlier, I was thinking to myself about putting in an order for 50000 at 1p, if the price wasn't already being offered that is and then I thought twice about it and decided to hold back but I think it was a buy and I hope whoever bought has a lot of patience cause if it doesn't get backed up by a few more buys in the days ahead, the dreaded seller will drag it back down again...IMO. Ofcourse it might have been the seller buying 50000 at 1p with the intention of selling more than 50000 after the tick-up has occurred...which it now has...although I doubt that that is the case on this occasion. The buys are usually a lot smaller and more insignificant. As an aside, I was listening to an interview between the Guardian and Robin Williams / Bobcat Goldthwait earlier today wrt 'World's Greatest Dad' and at the end of the interview, it sounded like the film was being released in the cinemas in the UK tomorrow, so if anyone in old blighty wants to go and see it, now's your chance. I don't know how wide a release it's getting, maybe it's just London tomorrow and then wider over the w/e. I'll try and find the link for the interview and then post it. | cardiffian
23/9/2010 17:49 | what do you make of that little tick up last thing Cardiff... a 50k trade presumably a buy but at 1.0p then the bid gets moved up to 1.0p very strange, is it just the news you posted is now on their website? if so, does the market see this as significant... | diesel
23/9/2010 08:21 | well found Cardi...will we see an RNS or are they busy doing their pre jolly shopping, I notice there are 15 going to Cannes this year. | diesel
23/9/2010 07:10 | That's what I thought. I'm guessing the THR article below is not as exclusive as they suggest because it's probably related to the c21media article from the other day that I couldn't access. It would also seem the seller(s) yesterday were a little premature or maybe psychic...now that is forward-thinking ! -------------------- EXCLUSIVE: Vuguru inks output deal Michael Eisner-owned studio signs pact with Fireworks Int'l By Andrew Wallenstein Sept 23, 2010, 12:00 AM ET Michael Eisner-owned studio Vuguru has signed an international distribution deal with Fireworks International that marks an unprecedented commitment to multiplatform original programming. Fireworks, a division of ContentFilm, will pay an unspecified sum to Vuguru for first-look rights to its upcoming slate of 10 projects during the next two years. With backing from Canadian cable giant Rogers Media, Vuguru has been a pioneer in creating premium serialized shortform content including "Prom Queen" and "Back on Topps" that originates online but is repackaged for other windows ranging from VOD to international TV. The pact marks a maturation in digital distribution because it is structured more like a film output deal, in which the distributor pays for rights. It also establishes Fireworks as an emerging alternative to the studios that have dominated international distribution because of their existing pipelines for film and TV; online and mobile content can be something of an afterthought in comparison. "ContentFilm is an ideal partner because they're very focused on extracting the maximum value out of multiplatform programming," Vuguru president Larry Tanz said. "Their commitment will help us build our catalog." Fireworks will be able to take Vuguru content and sell it as both TV or digital content (the timing of the announcement just before MIPCOM is not a coincidence). For instance, the upcoming drama "Pretty Tough" can be bought as either 18 multi-minute videos or one 90-minute TV movie. "What you've got here is a market leader for distributing multiplatform programming coming together with a market leader on the production of this programming," said Jonathan Ford, executive vp digital acquisitions and distribution at Fireworks. Financial terms of the deal, which does not cover North America, were not disclosed. | cardiffian
23/9/2010 07:07 | Cardiffian. Why would they issue an RNS today? have I missed something | bangers for bucks
23/9/2010 06:55 | Let's see if they're forward-thinking enough to issue an RNS this morning instead of relying on long-suffering shareholders. I won't hold my breath ! | cardiffian
17/9/2010 09:38 | I don't know Cardif.....Mr Schmidt was forward thinking in negotiating his package, and getting a £40000 bonus when the share price is at an all time low may indicate that it's a question of taking the money while there's still some left!! | diesel
17/9/2010 09:31 | Has anyone got access to c21media, I can't access the article (subscriber only). "Another example of forward-thinking Brits comes from a series of deals Fireworks International struck just before MipTV in April for digital drama series..." Forward-thinking Brits....surely they're not referring to Fireworks, forward-thinking !...I think not !....must be somebody else. Oh and by the way Mr. Irby, as you're up for re-election, I've voted against it. I realise it won't make any difference to the actual outcome but I wished to make a point. | cardiffian
13/9/2010 08:12 | I won't be attending, I've got far too many other things on my plate which need sorting out but I'll definitely be looking forward to your report. | cardiffian
13/9/2010 07:53 | anyone else going to the agm on 30th sep at 11am in High Holborn. I will definitely be in the uk that week, so will be heading there to try and work out where the directors think the company is going and, if they think it is going in the right direction, why havnt they bought any shares.... | fft
12/9/2010 13:16 | I too had a look thru the annual accounts and also noticed that Schmidt is entitled to a 5% of EBITDA bonus and although he was entitled to £120000, the kind man has postponed payment of £80000 until next year. If we get to next year that is ! Maybe we should send him a cake or something to say thanks ! Why he's entitled to that bonus I have no idea...maybe one of you who were here before me knows ? Nevertheless, I've started to write off the remaining value of my holding, atleast on paper, against any capital gain I make elsewhere just to avoid further disappointment in the future because without any company notifications, there aren't going to be any purchases and the share price ain't going to rise. IMO. | cardiffian
12/9/2010 11:17 | a quick troll through the accounts this weekend reveals some interesting stuff. Schmidt still receives his £350 salary plus he got a £40k bonus, I presume that cannot be performance related!, not a bad salary for a comapnay with market cap of around £1m, think what the ceo of BP would get if his package was 50% of market cap!!. At last McCluggage only received 8k for his non-exec role, last year it was 100k. As for unit performance the business is actually ticking alomg reasonably well, if they can just reduce the debt a bit quicker it would have a huge effect on profits, and on that subject the investment in Collins Av looks unwise at the moment unless that company come up with a blockbuster it's another dead end. Strange how the same language was used with Jeff Collins as with the PeaceArch lot ie impressive track record, well respected in the industry...well I don't see it so far! As for my investment, averaged down over the years and will sit with my holding here, fortunately I made a few better choices elsewhere that are compensation for this one. | diesel
09/9/2010 20:51 | Of no relevance here whatsoever, just that it made me chuckle when I read it, mind you I have had a whisky or 2: Their Best Role: Milla Jovovich 19 hours ago | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news » Hardcore Milla Jovovich fans can already guess where I'm going to pinpoint the greatest role in the Ukraine-born beauty's long and eclectic career, a career that's taken her into the worlds of fashion, music, and film, into tropical paradise and 15th century France and zombie-infested worlds and beyond. Really, it only takes one perfect little word to explain, delivered with just the right inflection. Say it with me, folks. "Mul-ti-pass!" 09/9/2010 20:34 | Talk about coincidence, Malin Ackerman mentioned here too...note the last sentence: Malin Akerman pulls into 'Station' Thesp to costar with Hawke in CIA thriller By DIANA LODDERHOSE LONDON -- Malin Akerman has signed onto CIA thriller "The Numbers Station," and will star alongside previously announced thesp Ethan Hawke.
