15/1/2007 09:21 | -and again, decent re-rating underway. | the prophet
12/1/2007 09:48 | -jonwig, thanks for that info, will check out the other co's, as I know little about this sector beyond Altrix. -does seem there is v.good growth available here, though. -COT going nicely again this morning. | the prophet
11/1/2007 16:45 | TP - I wouldn't have noticed these had it not been for my holding a few Inspicio [INP] where Keith Tozzi is also on the board. INP have big ambitions in the testing/inspection area and are now consolidating after a series of acquisitions. It's not beyond belief that INP could buy COT, and notice that the whole sector, led by Intertek [ITRK] is pretty highly-rated. | jonwig
11/1/2007 16:27 | hi jonwig -only got a few myself, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick if they do ok!! | the prophet
11/1/2007 16:18 | -going nicely here, I currently own Altrix, which COT has bought, as confimed today. -think they have got Altrix for a good price, so got a few COT with the pennies they are giving me! | the prophet
11/1/2007 09:25 | Anyone have any analyst forecasts or company guidance for COT? | shuisky
03/1/2007 09:58 | sorry wrong post! | randsys
01/1/2007 17:03 | Thanks, Stegrego. The £9.5m is stated in a number of places, the fact that it's 9.5m shares is harder to find! It's here, section 6: | jonwig
01/1/2007 16:58 | Cheers Stegrego. | masurenguy
01/1/2007 16:16 | Concateno will raise, conditional upon Admission, approximately #9.5 million (before expenses) by the issue of 9,500,000 Placing Shares to institutional and other investors at the Placing Price. So i make that 1 quid per share | stegrego
01/1/2007 14:22 | jonwig - do you know how many new shares were placed, and at what price, to fund the proposed acquisition of Altrix "On 20th December, and in line with the Company's strategy, the boards of Concateno and Altrix announced that they had reached agreement on the terms of recommended cash offers for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Altrix at 80.6 pence in cash for each Altrix Share, valuing the issued and to be issued ordinary share capital of Altrix at £11 million. To fund the acquisition, Concateno has raised approximately £9.5 million by way of an oversubscribed underwritten placing of new Concateno shares with institutional and other investors." | masurenguy
30/12/2006 12:38 | The Telegraph's surver for 2007 includes: Justin Urquhart-Stewart Seven Investment Management Top share Concateno. Listed on the Alternative Investment Market (Aim), this is one of the leading companies in drug and alcohol testing. This is becoming increasingly important in transport, where such controls are crucial, and has also become far more relevant in the area of sports. | jonwig
22/12/2006 10:06 | Interim results today - more acquisitions planned. Looks promising, but share price is well up with events. | jonwig

06/11/2006 10:59 | On completion of acquisition, RNS today includes: 'We are delighted to have acquired such a strong business with such a good management team. The acquisition of Medscreen is the first step in our strategy to consolidate the highly fragmented and fast developing drugs testing market.' | jonwig
02/11/2006 08:34 | Shares Mag today: Cash shell Concateno (COT:AIM) has burst into life after acquiring drugs and alcohol testing business Medscreen. Medscreen, which carries out tests for shipping companies, is already profitable and last year made £1.1 million on sales of £6.8 million. The drugs and alcohol testing market is potentially huge and highly lucrative. According to analysts at independent broker Bridgewell, life sciences testing which also includes testing pharmaceutical products is worth a minimum of £500 million a year, growing at 30%pa and offers operating margins of 25%. Concateno has already attracted investment from testing business Inspicio (INP:AIM). Inspicio is subscribing to £1.1 million worth of Concateno shares as part of a placing to fund the purchase of Medscreen. Concateno collects urine samples from shipping operators across the world. Maritime clients, which include BP Shipping, account for around half of sales. There is potential for cross-selling with Inspicio, an oil tester that also has BP as a client. Both Concateno and Inspicio are chaired by Keith Tozzi and following the Medscreen acquisition Inspicio will have a 5% holding in the company. The £30 million acquisition, which was due to be approved by shareholders at an EGM yesterday (1 November), will largely be funded by an £18.7 million placing. Together with exposure to the marine sector, Medscreen has a large share of the prisons drug-testing market and HM Prisons, accounting for 18% of sales last year, is the company's largest single customer. Medscreen took on the HM Prisons contract in 1998 and it was extended for another four years last month following a re-tendering. ■ Shares says: Medscreen is a proven business and offers exciting growth prospects. | jonwig
27/10/2006 11:41 | Concateno buys Medscreen (drugs testing) this morning. Links with Inspicio [INP] where I have a holding - and INP have taken up placing shares. Hence thread for info and watching progress. Future merger with INP not a barmy idea! | jonwig
27/10/2006 11:39 | http://www.medscreen Cash shell floated 7 April 2005, intention to acquire water companies in SE England. It didn't happen. Initial capital, 5.0m shares. 27 Oct 2006. Placing of 22.0m shares @85p. Acquisition of Medscreen, a global provider of drug and alcohol testing services for £30m (cash from placing, consideration shares, new debt facilities). Inspicio [INP] have taken up shares in the placing, giving them a 5% holding. Given that the CEO of COT, Keith Tozzi, is also a senior director of INP, and INP have strong ambitions to grow through acquisition, an outright bid in the future is quite possible. No of shares in issue post-acquisition: 27,941,178 | jonwig
