23/5/2006 11:33 | clangor 2 .... agreed .... With this one I'm torn between buy now and hold, or jump in quickly when something starts stirring philosophies. Oh, hum.... | krishall
23/5/2006 10:36 | Watching and waiting on the sidelines myself as well now. But this technology must eventually have its day. The difficulty is going to be, as krishall says, getting the timing right on when to get back in. | clangor2
23/5/2006 05:33 | Agreed.... one or more rns's could come at any time and could give share price a boost. So let's see what comes as this is an intersting company..... | krishall
22/5/2006 23:20 | Yep fair play Kris. I guess this one will require patience. Hopefully the contract signing rns will come pretty soon and the share price should rally a fair bit on that. There is of course the possibility of other positive announcments in the mean time particularly in relation to Scotgen. | spiv 1
22/5/2006 19:27 | spiv 1 .... Thanks for the info. CPO's technology does seem good .... that was why I did buy in originally (plus the Turbo Genset connection). But with the lack of rns of contract signing plus the time until large plant is ready then I sold out (at a profit). After being thru the tech crash then I preferred a profit banked rather than the possibility of loosing money. I am interested in buying in again (for the long term) - but still don't feel present timing is quite right. With present market conditions then 15 months is a long time until the large volume facility is operational. | krishall
22/5/2006 18:41 | Rang CPO today. Spoke to the senior management engineer. Very helpful and informative. You're right Kris that they have not finally signed the contract with Bristol City Council although his view was that it is a done deal and they are just finalising the terms (he even said the council were keener than CPO). For him the thing holding back CPO so far has been the issue over scale. No one doubts the technology works in a small plant but they need to get the £20m second Avonmouth plant working to show it can handle large volume. Once this is done he believes other local authorities will literally be forming an orderly queue. He believes the technology is the best in market. He said cash position is strong, so no worries there, and that he believed CPO would very likely get the Scotgen licence as the planning permission granted on the site is quite specific. The Biomass venture with Turbo Genset is likely to lead to a demonstration plant at some point. He also eluded to another contract for on board ship waste disposal which looks likely fairly soon. Overall, I'm pretty happy to continue to hold and if the final contract with the council is signed will increase my holding substantially as for me this seems to be the catalyst. Hope this is useful. | spiv 1
22/5/2006 11:27 | spiv 1 ... if you do get an answer from them can you please post it here... (I'm no longer holding but still interested in developements with it).. | krishall
20/5/2006 11:27 | Thanks for that info Krishall. Perhaps its time to ring the company and get a firm answer. I only hold a few of these on the basis that the market cap is tiny and that if they could roll out the technology then clearly it's a multibagger. Not for widows or orphans though as they say. | spiv 1
17/5/2006 13:09 | Trawling back, the rns at end of March was that Compact Power announced that an agreement has been reached with Balkan General Engineering (BGE) that will allow the construction of the new waste to energy plant at Avonmouth Bristol to commence. And that the new plant will process some of Bristol City Council's non-recyclable municipal waste. However, a Bristol newspaper had an article around this time mentioning the construction deal but quoting CPO that they expected a deal to be reached with Bristol Council within a few days. So it seems to be a bit of a grey area as to a deal has been officilly signed. It should also be noted that the Bristol facilty won't be ready for another 15 months. I'm not trying to deramp this share but I keeping looking thru the available info and can never get 'two and two to make four'. | krishall
17/5/2006 10:40 | I think they have signed the deal with Bristol. They announced they are now building a second plant at Avonmouth to deal with part of Bristol's refuse so I assume they must have a contract for this or they wouldn't be building it. | spiv 1
17/5/2006 08:32 | yes... also thought that disposal was required to raise dosh. and as far as I can see they havn't signed a deal with Bristol Council yet (- am I wrong in thinking this?). So risk / reward ratio on this at the moment is not favourable. | krishall
17/5/2006 08:22 | Well the 775,000 quid will keep the wolf from the door. CTV should now have enough cash to last a couple of years which is plenty of time to negotiate deals (something hard to do a few months ago when they were on the verge of going bust). | spiv 1
17/5/2006 07:51 | Not sure if todays rns is positive. A Chairman starting a sentance with "I now hope... " is a bit ???? | krishall
09/5/2006 14:01 | Nice buying opp. Looks like someone has hoovered up all that stock and price now off the bottom. | spiv 1
17/4/2006 13:40 | Oil price now looks set to stay above $60 a barrel and if the US attack Iran we could see a lot higher, even $100 according to some analysts. This is all good news for CPO. IMHO the contracts will start coming in thick and fast as governments increasingly look for alternative means of supplying their energy needs. Can't think of a stock I'd rather be in right now. | spiv 1
10/4/2006 11:27 | Costs and Benefits The cost of disposal using Compact Power technology will be project specific, but a disposal cost of less than £250 a tonne is typical. When savings on transport costs are taken into account this represents a major cost reduction for many hospitals. Benefits On-site secure solution Safe and sure disposal route Waste can be neutralised instantly Designed to meet your needs PFI funding available Affordable disposal costs Supplies usable heat and power | k38
07/4/2006 15:52 | Up, up and away!!! | spiv 1
05/4/2006 17:53 | Yep some good volume today and decent buys. Remember the market cap is still tiny even at this price as this stock was virtually going bust a few months ago. There's a lot more to come yet. | spiv 1
05/4/2006 13:53 | A few positive prints going throught there might be a few buyers of the stock about? | eagle78
04/4/2006 15:22 | With latest rns, would assume Cantnor bought some of the Fidelity shares (and that Fidelity still have an interest in under 675,000 share - less than 3% of company). | krishall

30/3/2006 07:58 | Here's some more detail on the new plant announced this week Time running out for Defra's £30m Demonstrator Programme (29.03.06) Compact Power one of the companies shortlisted for Defra's £30 million New Technology Demonstrator Programme has now secured full funding for its gasification plant, without Defra's assistance. Deal: BGE managing director Ignatios Mavromatidis (left) with Compact Power chairman Nic Cooper and chief executive John Acton (right) finalising arrangements for the Avonmouth plant The company has run out of patience with the Demonstrator Programme, warning that time is running out to demonstrate its gasification technology before many local authorities take long-term decisions on their waste treatment. Under Defra's Waste Implementation Programme, the Demonstrator Programme was launched two years ago with the aim of establishing 10 plants to demonstrate the use of at least four new treatment technologies to divert waste from landfill. The first five plants were to be set up by the end of 2005, with a further five up and running by the end of 2006. However, so far a single Demonstrator Programme plant has been opened the Greenfinch anaerobic digester in Shropshire earlier this month (see letsrecycle.com story). Partner Rather than wait any longer for its Defra decision, Compact Power has now gone ahead with partner company Balkan General Engineering of Greece in securing around £20 million for the gasification plant proposed for Avonmouth. Compact Power business development manager Richard Hogg told letsrecycle.com: "It's just been dragging on and on. Obviously it hurts us commercially, because we need to get a move with this, we are concerned that if we don't get the plant up and running, we are not going to be able to demonstrate it in time for local authorities to make their decisions." The company already has planning permission for its gasification plant, which will take in more than 28,000 tonnes of municipal waste from Bristol city council. The new plant will be set up beside Compact Power's existing small pilot gasification plant. We can't afford to wait any longer there is enormous interest in this plant, and Bristol city council is going wild because it is part of their diversion plans. - Richard Hogg, Compact Power Defra Mr Hogg said his company was unsure why Defra was dragging their feet over the Demonstrator Programme, and that it had been difficult to get in touch with officials over the matter. Defra's only response to his company's queries had been that the Department was engaged in "due diligence" concerning the projects, he said. Now that funding has been secured, the Avomouth plant is now expected to be up and running by autumn 2007, with only its pollution prevention and control permit still to gain from the Environment Agency. "The main thing is the timing in all this," he said. "We can't afford to wait any longer there is enormous interest in this plant, and Bristol city council is going wild because it is part of their diversion plans." The Avonmouth plant is being built as a combined heat and power facility it will "cook" waste to produce a fuel gas that is then burned at high temperature to generate electricity and heat. The facility will be able to generate 3.6MW of electricity and 15MW of heat, which will be used by local industry. Funding Funding for the new Avonmouth plant has been achieved by establishing a limited liability partnership between Compact Power and BGE, the principle contractor. The funding will come via BGE from Liechtensteinbased Firona Stiftung. Vice president and managing director of BGE, Ignatios Mavromatidis, said: "We strongly believe that the Avonmouth project will lead very quickly to a programme of waste and biomass projects and we look forward to promoting the technology in Greece and the Balkans and the other markets in which we have a presence." Second line Mr Hogg revealed that the company also has planning permission to establish a second line that would double its capacity so that it could treat 60,000 tonnes of waste each year. This expansion depended on the success of the first line, he said. Related links: Defra: New Technologies Compact Power has not withdrawn from Defra's Demonstrator Programme. If Defra does decide to provide funding, the plant will process only municipal waste. Should the Defra funding not come, however, Mr Hogg said about 2,000 tonnes of the input would be clinical waste both to "improve the economics of the process and to show the range of wastes this technology can use". | asparks |
