13/7/2001 19:30 | Maybe we should have a Casino night out. | scripophilist
13/7/2001 19:27 | Baden, How long have you been making money at it. I've made loads on occassion but given it all back (& some) over time. I started off playing for fun .. it just used to be an alternative nite out amongst a few of my friends. After a few wins at the roulette wheel I thought I was pretty good at it ..which the led to me going out gambling on my own & betting large .. far too large in fact ... lost a packet. Unless you can count cards or you've got a terrific little system, the house will win over time IMHO. | apex
13/7/2001 19:21 | well thanks for the interesting discussion... Why did you bother to start a thread ? | adamh
13/7/2001 19:05 | I couldn't possibly tell you - you'll need to work it out for yourself | baden
13/7/2001 16:55 | I reguarly play American stud poker but vary my bets according to 2 things, 1) Dealers success @ producing hands or not as the case may be! 2) My own success @ producing hands. When i've built up stake sufficiently I down size and start again! If your not too greedy and don't need to make a living out of it, oh yes you've got to be sober as well, you can pay for the odd meal this way! Over the time i've played I'm probably up a £1-2k. Finally usually I usually stop if I make £100 so you can see its purely fun! regards ANdy | renda2
13/7/2001 13:56 | Traderboy1, I was talking about a different sort of poker, where the casino has no financial interest other than the £6 to £35 an hour they charge for a seat in the game. The casino poker you are playing such as "carribean stud" has the greatest edge for the casino of any of the house games. I can't rememeber the exact figures for the vig and it varies from casino to casino, game to game but its arround 60%+.... In gambling terms this is horrendous.... Avoid IMO. | adamh
13/7/2001 12:14 | Been taking a shed from the casino - up 300% - using basic rules of probability Roulette - up Black Jack - up Fruits - break even Others - breakeven any other gamers out there? | baden
13/7/2001 02:58 | Baden, I'm a poker player myself, Great game, Its Pitting your wits against other peoples wits for money with a bit of luck ( or standard deviation ) thrown in to stir it up a bit...or a game where money is used to keep the score. A lot of similarities to trading stocks and shares. I understand there are black jack card counting systems that can place the odds as much as 52% in your favour, From the nature of you post I suspect that you are not refering to this when you say "up 300% - using basic rules of probability". Just a bit puzzled as to what am I missing about probability. can you elucidate further as to what makes you think you can beat a casino house game such as roulette or fruits using the basic rules of probabilty ? be lucky | adamh |
