  the "group") announces that it has purchased 
  the following number of its ordinary shares of 
  25p each on the London Stock Exchange. The purchased 
  shares will be held in treasury.

   holds 680,342 of its ordinary shares in treasury 
   and has 151,379,948 ordinary shares in issue 
   (excluding treasury shares).
