Yes, a realised loss in 06-07 - saves the need to make a negligible value claim for CG, at least.

search on "Carbo plc" on this page and select "Dissolved names" as the search criteria: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/wclogin I downloaded the official document (it costs £1) and can email the pdf to you if you like but it's only a few lines and basically confirms what you can read for free above.

For anybody whose interested - I spoke to Earnest & Young yesterday - they are looking after the administration of Carbo PLC. They advised that shares in the company have zero value.

Can anyone tell me what has happened. Their website does not work and none of the sites I've looked in know the name anymore. I assume I've lost the lot but it would be nice to know why and how!

Does anybody know what the latest update is on Carbo? Are they dead and buried or are the ashes still smouldering? Their Website appears to have disappeared...

One would guess that Mr Roberts and others will arise from the ashes phoenix like in the not too distant future. You would have thought he would have communicated with you as promised, the whole business is unfortunate to say the least for the shareholders and a number of employees, perhaps Mr Roberts and others are constrained in some way as to what they can say publicly because of their obligations to the administrators - Ernst & Young.

Befuddled I have been without a connection for over a month - British Telecom! No reply from Mr Roberts, although he said he would be in contact after his holiday some weeks ago. I do not think he can face the fact that he may have failed to act properly as a director. Interesting though that many transactions by Carbo were for the direct benefit of directors - they are required to advise shareholders of these but did not do so. I think that all the directors just hope to get away with their failings at the expense of us shareholders

Markdown / Befuddled The conversation has started I will keep you informed. I do not know how much money was paid for Anglo Abrasives, but it was not a lot. I could not guess, but I shall try to find out. It would help if there was a lawyer who also was a holder who could give an opinion about the actions of the directors pre administration. I now know that the first approach was made the day before a board meeting in February and was ignored by the directors, there was a second approach made about 2 weeks later which was also ignored. The directors failed to advise the administrators of the approaches, and although the administrators were telephoned during the process of the sale, they refused to consider the approach, or to receive the approach again, as they said they had issued a contract. In the end the shareholders did not get the best deal. The remaining German part of the plc also lost from the deal compared with the basis of the approach. So we lost out all round. Hermod

Hermod, How much money was involved, if you have this information then you must also have more information on the other remnants of the business, please share it with us it cannot effect the share price or the prospects of any return to shareholders!

We wait to see - but in the meantime, the Anglo organisation in UK has been bought by a company called Abrasive Blades which is not connected to Carbo as I can see. Little money was involved, unfortunately no licence or contracts to support Schroeder were negotiated. I guess nothing left after paying for the accountants. I think any other remains of Carbo in Uk are as nothing Keep smiling - Hermod

Hermod: Now there is an offer you can't refuse from a senior manager in this (dis)organisation! Perhaps you can get the inside track on the whole fiasco. Waiting with baited breath
