15/9/2009 15:30 | Seems ok plenty of hedge funds would be happy with that. I'm trying to keep risks (management, currency, market, climate, economic, political) to a minimum another reason for trying to stick with the bigger companies like CWP,HSN,RWE,ECWO,UTL | praipus
15/9/2009 15:06 | not 100% sure. Started investing/trading in 2006. Had a good year that year - approx 30% profit 2007 approx 15-20% profit 2008 large paper loss -30% 2008 large real loss too as some of the companies I held folded. - loss another 20-30% 2009. So far I have taken out about 5% profit and my remaining portfolio is back up to 80% of its purchase price. I fully expect to make a 20-30% profit this year | asparks

15/9/2009 14:22 | Could be worth watching ECWO, ECWS, UTL and UEM for renewables exposure. | praipus
15/9/2009 14:22 | IMTK, NTA and JRVS all look ike good buys from a chart perspective even now. How do you decide on timming on the stocks you trade in and out of? | praipus
15/9/2009 14:06 | My portfolio is about 80% renewables. I have holdings in about 15-20 companies. Some I trade in and out of. Apart from renewables I also hold IMTK, NTA, and did hold JRVS but sold last week for a good profit. | asparks
15/9/2009 13:23 | Thanks asparks ALK looks interesting. I like CWP and hold via BRNE. What proportion of your capital/account size do you allocate to each of these opportunities? How many investments do you typically have at any one time? Also do you allocate just to new/green energy or any to fixed interest etc? Sorry to ask you all this but these are questions which trouble me since September 2008, i've got risk very much more in focus now and I know I dont know all the risks if you know what I mean. | praipus
15/9/2009 12:50 | OK Praipus. If you like renewables check out ALK. Steadily growing for past 5 years. Profit increasing each year. Well run company. Results out this week I think | asparks
15/9/2009 12:43 | Thanks aparks, too many risks for me. Watching OTE, BILL, MWG, RWE, REH in theory that they could attract and accomodate larger institutional inetrest at some point. | praipus
15/9/2009 12:35 | Pure Wafer gets £2m boost to help it ride out the recession Sep 15 2009 by Aled Blake, Western Mail TECHNOLOGY firm Pure Wafer has been given a cash boost after revealing it raised nearly £2m through a new shares issue. The company said it raised £1.99m through the issue of the shares, with £1.16m coming from an open offer of 100million shares and £830,000 coming from shares bought by the directors. The open offer has been supported by a number of existing shareholders including the non-executive directors Eurfyl ap Gwilym, Paul Dolan and Giles Clarke. Pure Wafer had earlier this year been in discussions over a potential takeover of the company. The Alternative Investment Market-listed company suspended its shares in March as it looked to clarify its financial position. Swansea-based Pure Wafer, had earlier in the year issued a statement which said it would be investigating means of bringing in money to help it through the recession. And in February chairman of the silicon recycling venture, Eurfyl ap Gwilym, stood down to be replaced by Stephen Boyd. At the end of last year, the company revealed it had received a takeover approach after its announcement of a pre-tax loss of £800,000 for the year to June 30 compared to a £3.6m profit the year before. That was after restructuring costs and on a turnover of £22.3m, the same as 2007. Peter Harrington, chief executive of Pure Wafer, said: "The scale of the take-up of the open offer and placing has demonstrated the confidence and commitment that the management and key shareholders have in the future of Pure Wafer and our ability to return to growth as the market recovers. "The funds raised through the open offer and placing together with the recently agreed additional banking arrangements of a £2m overdraft facility and rescheduling of existing debt, will ensure that we are well positioned, using our fully equipped facilities in Swansea and Prescott, Arizona, to take advantage of any industry upturn." Pure Wafer has restructured its Swansea site, with its US base at Prescott, Arizona, seeing an increase in capacity in the past year. | asparks
15/9/2009 12:33 | Praipus - I have just got some PUR. I reckon they will continue rising to 8-10p in shortterm | asparks
15/9/2009 12:31 | no system - at the moment loads of companies are way undervalued. I think the falls last year and start of this were overdone. So, I just look for cheap buys. This is cheap all the way up to 200p at least | asparks
15/9/2009 12:22 | Amazing timming asparks. How do you decide when to buy? Do you use a system? | praipus
