CPH taking over the South Bank! - they already have 'Real Greek' in the same area.

Sombre but realistic AGM Statement being released today. Clink Street opening looks promising - certainly place has a quaint uniqueness about it. Like sound of the "strong location" and implies agreed on attractive terms.

UK REG below:

The Clapham House Group PLC
AGM Statement

At today's Annual General Meeting of The Clapham House Group PLC ("Clapham
House" or "the Group"), the following statement will be made by David Page,
Clapham House's Chairman:

"Revenue across the Group in the first half of the financial year to March 2010
is some 2% higher than in the same period last year.

In the UK our trading environment and outlook remain challenging, especially in
our Tootsies business. The restaurant industry continues to see widespread
discounting and promotional activity with consequent impact on net margins.

Yesterday, we opened our 50th Gourmet Burger Kitchen ("GBK") restaurant in the
UK at Clink Street on London's South Bank. Given the economic outlook, we
continue to be cautious in terms of future openings although we are looking to
identify similarly strong locations on attractive terms.

Our franchise partners have opened two new GBK restaurants in the Middle East in
the first half, taking the total number of GBK restaurants overseas to 13. In
addition, in July we signed a new franchise partner for the development of GBK
in Greece, where the first restaurant is expected to open before the end of the
year."

Personally thought RTN's results were dogsh*t - just like their food..

like-for-likes -3.5% compared to +6% at CPH, yet higher rating...go figure.

They're a bigger, better known (?) company than CPH - so that might explain the rise.

Unless Goldmans/PPT are pumping..

omg, stalker!!!

:-)

p.s. averaged down since then gb, much wiser (fanks in part to the Wanna play FTSE crowd and also all that BBC/Nasdaq C&P!) now but still underwater here.

No matter, they'll start expanding again once they sell-off the under-performing Tootsies/Dexters restaurants (good riddance!) and can start playing proper hardball on rents with desperate landlords in a commercial property market on its knees..that resumption of the GBK expansion will have people concentrating on growth prospects once again..

..then watch the rating & consequently the share price go north...

datz de feory anywayz.

For you guys who are not aware of this link I find it very useful as ADVFN
often do not pick up the feed on RNS announcements.

Thanks Jaslive. Results pretty much as expected with impairment charge well flagged ahead of the announcement. let's hope next two quarters continue to improve year on year.

Liveinhope - I had thought the same but these are more drive in venues and maybe don't suit GBK format.

Why can't Tootsies/Dexters outlets be changed to GBK outlets where GBK not in same town/area?

GBK doing fine....but Tootsies/Dexters is more of a millstone than ever.

Presumably they are trying to flog those dogs to reduce debt/concentrate on GBK....an announcement on that front can't come soon enough!
