20% down on the negative OXS NEWS.

And some people still think this is a slam dunk!

Amazing really.

Good post OhIsay

If this message board goes the same way as Oxus in coming months there'll be a raft of nonsensical rampers bashing every circumspect post and poster to death..

But, as you say, look at the final outcomes...not pretty.

Good to keep your feet on the ground and realise that you do not know what the other side have up their sleeve, no matter how good the CHL case is (or appears to be).

Rossamon - debbiegee

You have been consistent with your "imminent settlement" narrative for many months now, but I don't think you are looking at this objectively. There is always going to be some basis on which you can argue or at least speculate that settlement is imminent, but it seems pretty clear to me that ROI will settle only when they have no other choice. They have form - do not expect them to behave rationally. Saying that, why wouldn't they wait for the result of the forgery hearing, just on the off chance that it goes their way?

Im sorry you obviously have not read all the posts here.

I was very confident before the hearing that there was a good chance of ooc.
I have also stated that when/if both sides see quiet clearly who might win ROI may try to encourage settlment before the announcement.
However many including myself have suggested we have come this far now and may as well hang in for the court decision.
There would no longer be a point to settle at a discount as there was before the case.
I and many want more and are prepared to wait longer but peronaly would also be happy if there was a swift setttlement.
All of this has been posted on the thread.
We have also posted that the only way ROI can try and delay this would be to dispute the $1.3b figure and if they do it could become a $2b figure,
Those that read the read regularly know all of this.

ohisay,

Good advice at the end there and surely applies to any stock held. There are some dogs around and not just AIM either...Only hold what you are prepared to lose. IMO

The golden rule is just put the same amount into this one as what was lost on Oxus. For me I need to buy another £1,700 to make this up to the £3,000 I lost in Oxus.

As a ex holder of Rurelec and Oxus both of whom now have had judgements go against them (albeit RUR "won" but effectively they lost) I have 2 observations.
Maybe they are trite but I'll say them anyway .
1.The value and the evidence of the witness's on the other side of the argument is not so easy to see or fully evaluate. The evidence itself on the other side (outwith the quality of the witnesses)seems to me to be quite difficult to get at.
2.You are not dealing with ordinary people here who are making the judgements. They tend to be "Western" experts at jurisprudence not your average PI's who might be thought to be (I'm being generous here) ..
a)On half speaking terms with a common sense view of the world.I've met quite a few lawyers over the years - a few of them I have to say have seemed borderline Aspergers.
b)Understanding that trying to make a business work and make money requires taking lots of commercial risks - especially in emerging markets and different cultures.

So IMV this is more like a punt - like betting on Man U at home (and we know what happened last week).Lesson is no more than 5% of your portfolio in these arb cases - no matter how good the CHL case seems to be on the outside - and it does seem good for sure.

Ok, but why would 'that individual' say that and why would CHL put it an RNS? I'm not trying to look at positively or negatively, just to establish the rationale behind it

Whichever way the update is taken today quiet clearly January is mentioned.
I always said that perhaps at the earliest there could be news by Jan and this was poo poohed.
I also said that once both sides had presented their cases and seen each others case they and their lawyers would/could try to assess their chances and it could be a start to them having talks /negotiatons before a verdict was announced.

Catch you all later ,Santa errands to run :-))))))

How are CHL trying to delay the process then if everybody is just waiting for the result of the forgery hearing??

I think it was more the 7th Dec preentation that has inspired some buying or even stakebuilding.
I dont think many were aware of the article.
The article says we are not playing ball.
If there are any talks /approaches going on then we are on the right side and able to refuse and hold out for more or ISCID decision.
I cant really think of any better news.

The recent move up in the last week shows investment sentiment may have been changing, but got knocked back by Oxus this morning. An awful Christmas present for those invested there. I did have a look myself but never had the time to investigate fully, so never understood the true risk. I stayed out but remain here as I do understand CHL's risks (topped up on the drop this morning)

I always said once all the evidence was on the table ROI would scurry to open talks again and that in January it could get exciting.
I was poo poohed by a few but I wasnt wrong .

I agree with PB01 that perhaps ROI have made or tried to make an offer and we have perhaps dug our heels in wantin more and prepared to wait.

Surely the RNS does show OOC negotiations are or have been going on. CHL don't control the ICSID timetable and have made no moves to prolong the arbitration process, so what else could the Indonesian guy be referring to? It seems to me ROI know the game is up and are trying to exert other pressures on CHL in an attempt at damage limitation
