alternatively, ROI might take the view that if they offer a cheeky settlement, £2 a share, CHL might accept rather than take a chance with the muppets on the arbitration panel, after looking at the farce over on Oxus.

The Oxus Gold case has been lost!

So much for the foregone conclusion many were making it out to be!

As with everything in life, politics can come into play and a wrong decision can result.

Let me say first of all that I know nothing about the OXS case other than that everybody seemed to think it was as good as won but sadly I expect to see at least one change in our battle as a direct result of the OXS decision.I always thought that the ROI would do everything it could to delay, delay and delay some more the eventual result here and I would say that this decision will kill stone dead the idea that the ROI would somehow negotiate an OOC settlement.I believe their forlorn hope of winning the case will have been bolstered - in their mind - and they will fight to the very end including trying to appeal the decision when it goes against them !!! And before somebody tells me that there is no appeal allowed I KNOW !!!

Interesting to note than in two recent examples, any award where interest is added, is calculated at Libor +2%, COMPOUNDED.Indonesia's Libor rate over the past three years is averaging approximately 7%, so any award would be calculated at 9%.On a full award, that could add up significantly.

The loss of Oxus will take me 4 months to recover.
I guess that is good compared to some on there.
Now time to increase my position here as the months go by.

First of all, let me say how sorry I am for all the shareholders of Oxus. It appears to be a shock decision and not what was expected. To receive the news this close to Christmas, when finances are stretched is a bitter blow.In respect of your comment above, there may be a reaction, especially as the share price has gained quite a bit in recent days.(maybe the smart money or should I say the ones given the nod, may well have moved out of Oxus into here!)Some may want to take their profit, rather than risk a similar fate to Oxus. So we may see some selling today. Who knows?I personally think Churchill are in a very strong position and will not be selling any.

The AGM should be over by now, so maybe we will get an RNS at 7 am our time, just to confirm all resolutions passed.

Debbiegee-that's exactly the impression I got from DQ.

ROI have tried everything here and that might be the only thing left!

A challenge to the valuation is about the only way ROI could try to further stall the result of this case.
I would not put it past them.
As we have always said,If we give them enough rope they will hang themselves !

I for 1 would not mind waiting another year but then I would also be happy with a quick settlement.

Actually CHL wouldn't mind ROI in future challenging the valuation then we could see a counter revised claim of near $2Bn.Sounds crazy but more of a possibility at this stage then any settlement with ROI.

melo, nice story, good to meet your old mates and if they have done well for themselves its great to listen to their stories of their journey to success.

I can also only see an out of court settlement happening, ROI have very little alternative.

Thought i would wait until the market closed before posting, as I could be accused of ramping.............

This is totally anecdotal, so take it for what it is, one person's view. I reconnected with a guy from Uni about 3 months ago after 2 decades, he had been busy making himself a few Billion and is a sort of "in the Top Ten Men" resources worldwide in wonga terms. We discussed various arb stocks amongst other things and he just smiled and said "they will have to settle" when we discussed CHL. It was nice to hear from someone who does a lot of business in coal/oil in Asia at any rate, and who knows the Industry inside out.

Does anyone know if POL has stake in CHL? Judging by POL rise today it appears to be singing from the same hymn sheet!

I'm not sure there is anything to the rise beyond people realising the potential here and taking up their positions accordingly, whilst the market has run out of sellers.

Still no reason to be languishing in the 20's though - the possible upside is huge.

we all know 24p is madness and we want a lot more and we have worked out our chances.
G/L to those that make a few p on the way though.

We estimated something perhaps between 2-2.50 if Roi had settled before the hearing.
With a positive result from the hearing I would be hoping for a bit more !

Yep, even at a miserly one third of the claim it is more than a ten bagger from here. Makes one think, mmmmm, should have bought more ;-)

Nice to see a little action - but just the tip of the iceberg.

Worth noting that OXS did c.100% early last new year on nothing more than speculation and anticipation of the result, which still hasn't come out. No reason why CHL shouldn't match that or more - and once ICSID finally deliver the "coup de grace" to the ROI shenanigans who knows ? Folks were willing to pay up to 50p for these a few short months ago - and now ROI are on the ropes with less time to wait until the endgame.

Should be a very good 2016 for the CHL longs.

Keep checking the ICSID website, but nothing new. Normally updated in Washington after 5pm our time. Will Churchill issue an RNS noting the rise but stating they know of no reason for it?
