26/11/2006 13:28 | warranty Thanks for your reply. Bearing in mind that svc took on a new ceo approx 1 year ago was the intention that he would grow the company or prepare it for sale. I think that growth will be difficult there do not appear to be any moves in this direction. Diversification/grow If there is to be a sale of svc it is to be hoped that there is more than one propective buyer in the hope that a better price will be obtained. | bracke
25/11/2006 12:50 | bracke, there has been bid talk over SVC for many years now and you're right about the family share ownership but in order to survive and prosper they will have to either buy, diversify or be bought soon, as I can't see how they can survive in their present state. The largest groups have a wider business base and are not just confined to Logistics alone like SVC. Wincanton for example are acquiring such as Lane Group with their 2 man operation, TNT have disposed of their logistics arm to expand their post and parcels side, predominantly because there are too many squeezing the pure logistics rates. With the foreign hauliers adding to the problem companies like SVC will continue to have profits squeezed. Don't see anybody taking them out at current levels though, why would they? but certainly as the price falls they may come into play. Definately a sell to me right now. One interesting play for this sector though would be UPS to buy TNT now they're divested of their logistics arm. UPS 70% US turnover might need something in Europe and the far east in case of a down turn in the states. | warranty
23/11/2006 12:57 | warranty Your post made unpleasant reading but unfortunately I am unable to suggest a more positive scenario; other than to suggest that a fall to 50p might attract a bidder. My understanding is that a lot of the shares are family owned and this has prevented takeovers in the past but it would not prevent retail shareholders from selling in the market if the price were to rise on the back of a bid. | bracke
15/11/2006 10:00 | Delayed reaction to figures issued by Wincanton [on the 9th] meaning that Salvesen should also be doing well? | augustus1
15/11/2006 09:11 | Suddenly up about 5p to 74p in a few hours - anybody heard any rumours or like to start one? | wavering
31/7/2006 20:00 | Just about to go xd so will probably drop a couple of pence | augustus1
31/7/2006 12:03 | That will be a yes then! Now where? | touche
26/7/2006 15:01 | Getting close | augustus1
07/7/2006 15:48 | Will this get past the 75p resistence? Looking strong | touche
20/6/2006 17:37 | Topped up just before the recent drop, just in the blue now but as it is in an ISA will get the dividend at only 10% tax. It looks as if the shares are beginning to move in the right direction - directors buys probably helped. | augustus1
15/6/2006 20:24 | Into the blue again, same as it ever was ..... | munin
07/6/2006 08:13 | Tipped in the Independent today 'hold salvesen'. ( better than a poke with a burnt stick). | hectorp
23/5/2006 21:44 | I bought on the 28th March, at 62.85p. Hoping that once the results are out, the divi maintained, and reassuringly promising (though cautious) sentiments expressed, I'll be out of the red. | munin
23/5/2006 19:42 | Worth considering as an 'investment ' eh. I bought some 3 weeks back, may add , for the yield. seem fairly safe here. | hectorp
19/5/2006 19:21 | looks like SVC is weathering the storm nicely with the yield underpinning the price. Missed topping up though when it momentarily dropped. | augustus1
13/5/2006 10:09 | good to know augustus. The share price is starting to respond too. | hectorp

10/5/2006 13:27 | Reported in The Times today: Arbuthnot Securities moved from "Neutral" to "Buy" citing assurances that the total dividend of 3.65p will be maintained at next month's prelims. | augustus1
07/5/2006 09:21 | Its very probable the rot has stopped here in which case the yield makes entry very worthwhile. I've been buying last week. | hectorp
04/5/2006 17:15 | Looking to buy below 60p, shame about the bounce, one more fall and I was in. | warranty |
