03/2/2005 17:17 | bracke, why would anyone wishing to make a bid want to do that? | stokieboy
03/2/2005 17:01 | stokieboy But it could have be done a lot quieter than it was. After all, 13 million share changing hands could have been spread over a wider time frame. It appears to be a deliberate move to draw attention to the share possible in the hope that it would bring in buyers to push the price up further? Regards bracke | bracke
03/2/2005 15:39 | This stock has a pretty low avervage volume so it must be difficult for anyone to accumulate a significant amount on the quiet imo. | stokieboy
03/2/2005 15:10 | A look at the chart above shows that at the end of September 2004 the price rose from 50 to 64 on heavy volume and then drifted back to 55 over the next 4 months. The recent heavy volume has taken the price back to the 64 level again it will be interesting to see if the same pattern is repeated ie price falling back to 55 or whether it will break out and reach the next s/r at 70. If theses shares are being accumulated for whatever reason, one would expect the purchaser to be less obvious in their purchase, unless of course they want to draw attention to their trade. 03/2/2005 13:01 | Salvesen family currently hold 4%, Northern Finance IOM are the largest shareholder with 9%. | jelenko
03/2/2005 12:19 | I have after long deliberation, decided to put my toe in the water and buy some of these shares. I also see that shortly afterwards, a 'T' trade went through for 300,000 shares at 60.33p. I looked up the meaning of he 'T' trade and found this info:- 'T' If reporting a single protected transaction. A protected transaction occurs when a large order is going through the market. The buyer (or seller) may wish to keep the order anonymous from the rest of the market as the size of the order could greatly alter the price of the stock. With a protected transaction, the dealer will put the trade through in small quantities rather than knock the whole order out in one hit. The entire transaction is reported once the deal is completed. The LSE is notified at the start and at the end of the transaction. However, the market as a whole isn't told until the end, thus the order is protected. I have noticed this particular type of trade before, but not really taken too much notice, however on this occasion, so soon after I bought, I thought I would investigate. Reading the above would seem to indicate a little underhand activity by trying to conceal what could be a real price movement. I take it that this is a common a common practice and if so, can we expect a fall in price later today. Comments welcome. Happy investing ;) | aos

31/1/2005 10:06 | I bought in on Friday, just a small punt un that large trade and high volume. Have to say it looks like a bid potentially but who knows, tho today seems to have good followthrough on a few small trades so looks like more big buying in the background. If it is a bid these will go a lot higher imo. CR | cockneyrebel
