The company is split into three parts -- retail, local distribution and
direct, which includes ChoicesUK.com. I am optimistic that we will be able to
find a buyer for the business."

Does anyone know which business unit is the loss maker.. Most probably the retail unit... close that and keep the local distribution and choicesuk.com up and running would do the trick...

eitherway, its the end of the road for the public company as it stands.

glad I got out too. Pretty bad they didn't issue a further warning to give people a further chance to get out - the chairman's statement on their investors section of website I remember was relatively positive/optimistic so I was almost tempted to get back in...
Note to self: absolutely avoid any company with debts and declining business !

Richard Ratner, retail analyst at Seymour Pierce, said he wasn't totally
surprised by ChoicesUK's demise although he had thought the dismal summer
weather would have assisted the business.

"We wrote on one occasion that ChoicesUK's mnemonic (CHUK) gave a good
indication of what we would do with the shares, we had rated it as a 'sell' but
now alas it is too late," he said.

Well it's all over. A sad end. I got out previously; glad I did. Peter Gyllenhammer must have lost a few quid on this one.

if choice carn't turn a profit in this rubbish of a summer we are having then throw away the key and never give any of the managers a job again. lets see if all this rain picks them up else they are all out of weather excuses.

changed my mind on this one - debts way too high, finance director leaving...sold up and moved into hmv instead, bit of takeover speculation there and not going bust
Could still come right here, but now very risky

I don't think you see a cup and handle, delphiman - may be a reverse one though!
All I see is a long term downward trend.

Just to confirm how tough the sector is at the moment, Blockbuster posted a loss yesterday and is down about 15% since then (BBI on the NYSE). CHUK is now in the sort of position where it's a pure gambling stock IMO. You could double your money or you could lose the lot. I think I'll just watch from the sidelines, but best of luck to those who want to try their luck...

If the trades are above the Normal Market Size (NMS) which is 1000 for CHUK they are reported later

This'll go under, the good parts will be sold and the shareholders will be left with nothing.
