Just fill in the form provided by your broker when it comes out.

You may wish to double check that assumption. I am not so sure you can't do that. Could be wrong. If so, could you not buy those shares privately from the sipp and hold the certificates?

dregg, cheers, yes I would like to hang around for the divi, and like JT, may choose to hang around for the ride. My only problem is I won't have a clue about what will have transpired over the next two months. Usually I love the isolation but in times like this it can be annoying.

I wonder if the current selling price will drop by 5p just after the divi date, or not, as of course it is nearer the take out date.
current selling seems to be around 368.

Thanks edmund, I use Selftrade so will email them. If no joy I will have to sell on Friday. A bit gutted with this take out price as I spend quite a bit of time out of contact and find it hard to find shares like CHNS that have massive long term potential without the short term stress.

Sadly my holding is in a SIPP so will have no choice but to sell.

JT, if you don't sell and they do relist, will they know by then, your name and address, or just act stupid and make you prove you are they rightful owner????????

blue, you should get in a few days a note from your brokers asking if you want to take up the offer, you will need to say ya, or na, then they should do the rest, with the monies put into your account when the payment date is. Also don't forget they will owe you that 5p a share as well........
Or you can sell them on the open market now.......

I don't blame the management for taking CHNS private (though I don't like the way they presented the last trading update. It looked like it was worded in order to suppress the share price imo).

At the end of the day if the market won't value a company properly, the management can't be blamed for leaving that market. I would have done the same in their place.

I expect this to be on the HK market within 36 months. Possibly 24 mths and the float price to be nearer 1000p.

Having continued to buy the shares throughout this year, my initial thoughts are to 'not sell' unless forced. I'll go along for the ride with this one.

Well I got some. Nothing special.

I rather got the impression that they were trying to drive the price down. Perhaps I am misreading the signals. (ever the cynic ;-)

When you considers the financial result for the year. It is as though the note were written by a manic depressive in the pr department. lol

JTCod - 21 Jan'11 - 08:49 - 1102 of 1228

I can't help wondering how easy it would be for a 66% shareholder to take this off the AIM market at a 25-30% premium and plant it on HK for double (possibly triple) the price once 2011 figures are out.

Your nominee should send you info so you can choose whether to hold/accept the offer.

If you are going out of contact, and your nominee has not contacted you before, contact them. Alternatively, sell before you go...

Chaps, what's the process now with a tender. If the shares are held through a nominee account do we need to sell or will they automatically be sold on the final date as when a company is bought out. The reason I ask is that I will be away until June from this weekend, completely off the communications grid and therefore be unable to vote for, sell, sign or anything until back.
Thanks for any info.

yep, we have been done over; That's for sure.

How many of you are going to wait for the dividend??????????

My £150 a point spreadbet was about to be closed - thank heavens I had not got round to closing it - it was planned for this week! I was only peanuts in profit until this morning. China Shoto had always been a core part of my equity portfolio and once was up to 7% of it though I had completely sold out a few months ago.
SO another of my original Chinese stocks bites the dust! It will be strange not to see it around any more

Well done to holders. I wasn't holding, though was thinking of getting back in if the results and outlook were up to scratch. The results were OK, but with a downbeat outlook, and I think holders would have had to wait a long time to achieve 380p again ordinarily. On balance therefore it's probably better to have a bird in the hand as of now.

It's a shame though, as CHNS is a quality company. Perhaps some of the CHNS money will be recycled into the likes of GNG and PMHL (he said hopefully!!). I can see PMHL going the same way as CHNS eventually if the share price doesn't improve, but believe GNG will continue on AIM given the Board's enthusiasm for visiting the UK and liaising with shareholders plus the likes of Patrick Evershed's keenness on GNG.

So addibg that 5p makes the total offer 385p/ share. Can't accuse the chairman,if robbing us but it certainly feels like it as I felt in the long term chns was a good one.

Hm. Understandable frustration from the BoD. Chinese holdings amount to 66%. They have agreement from some institutions to force this through, clearly the exit price has been negotiated.

It is a shame they didn't go the route of relisting on HK, but most institutions would probably not be so happy in general with HK listed shares.

Cannot compain about the premium to the current sp, but disappointing from a long term perspective, as I like the company and it looks worth £6 plus. If only a few other PIs & institutions had the same view...

While not a low-ball offer the remaining shareholders will be happier than those who exit at this stage.

Although the economic stimulus and economy are cooling in China and the EPS fell a third from last year, it has still grown from 18p/share in 2006 to 64p today. For a company with a strong product line in a long term growth sector, the remaining shareholders have secured a good deal here.

My conservative fair value price prior to the results was coincidentally 380p (10x average EPS 2007-date, excluding H209 which was unusually high, I place no value on the future in my assessments). Updating to include today's results my fair value increases to 455p.

While happy to crystalise a good return on my investment, I would have been happier to hold these for a longer time frame as the CHNS story unfolds.

If the tone of the statements were depressing, how would the market have treated hard numbers such as revenue down, profits down by 1/3. surely the price would have been trashed today without the buy back. I'm happy to take it.
