24/1/2004 11:06 | FINANCIAL TIMES "Look carefully behind the Isa selling blitz By Kate Burgess Published: January 23 2004 12:00 The adverts are being pasted up already and the worthy little booklets are appearing with the message: "Don't miss out on your ISA allowance". Fund managers are pulling out all the stops to avoid another poor season for sales of individual savings accounts. One company is budgeting for a 20 per cent increase in marketing spending, others are offering discounts to investors, or raising commissions to financial advisers to encourage them to push Isas to their clients. ... He said yes would only say things are on track, did say business had picked up in the last few months as more people are investing in the stock market, like I said before they are making a profit now and with things picking up they could surprise with results and show a bigger profit than expected of them they are in a growing market area now as more people return to the stock market, plus chart is starting to look good as well bottom seams to be 4p so that's it for now. Buy or Hold for results you could make some good money on this one it moves very quickly. Regards thinkBIG? | thinkbig?

14/1/2004 18:20 | Hi y'all Most media companies have dodgy balance sheets and Charterhouse Communications is certainly in a bad way. The fixed assets are almost entirely intangible and the gearing is high (September 2003: Shareholders' Funds £2.356m v Net Liabilities £7.661m). However, the value of the intangible assets (the magazines) is difficult to assess and varies with the business cycle (look at the 5 year share graph!). The value may not be accurately reflected in the current balance sheet. This is a risky investment but is potentially very rewarding. | grigor
14/1/2004 17:38 | Hi Safman, I do think you mean well and are at least giving facts and your opinion. I really do hope that you're right, there is nothing I would like to see more than Charterhouse return to its former glories!! I too would expect an impressive statement from Charterhouse next month, cost reductions and a bull market should have ensured they've had an excellent start to their financial year. However I think that after amortisation is taken off EPS will still be negative. I think that for the time being Charterhouse will stick to the winning titles that is publishes and pay off the debt, this will see it recover. I would hope to see 10p by the end of the year for Charterhouse personally. Best Wishes, Mr K | mrkournikova |
