Their are at least three mineral companies looking at CELTIC and without doubt Celtic will be bought but not under £3 per share

Well in a way I hpoe they dont get bought - because of the significant shareholding there would be no other suitors and we then have an independent attractivly valued company

The price will be minimum £3.00 their assets are worth even more than this as a share price...GOLD is also on the rise

The bid is more than likely the new major shareholder!

I would hope the major share holders would want a better result than that. As we have heard from the Company, they are currently doing very well and there is more to come (further increase at Suzdal etc in the near future). CER is not a forced seller, and therefore I don't see why shareholders would want to accept anything other than a price which reflects the current production plus something for future potential. I don't think #3 even values the current producing assets fairly, let alone the growth potential.

The way i see it is that the only new money is the new holders of 22%.

But we dont need to argue about it, because i dont think its going to matter

Anything near £3 will be ok.. but get ready for some cheek at maybe £2.50?

Kermit-not true ,i think new money has been coming into cer over the last few months-they have had some interesting broker notes and targets and finally seem to be getting their act together-such a shame they might even think of selling out at the moment, when the real story is only just beginning-have to admit though am only in from £1.92,having held and sold eka previously

I agree its only the holders and the management who care and neither can be bothered to buy more stock. The best thing to happen would be a takeover as these shares will never reach potential as no one wants to know Foo and the Celtic boys anymore.... Their time in the city is up i think.

Bring on the bid and bring it on soon so we can say goodbye

The relatively low volume following todays announcement shows how little attention CER is getting nowadays.

Bloody typical-best chance of cer realising a good return for current investors is imo if they continue to go it alone-they are now finally doing a good job-my guess is if they sell it will be due to burn out-they are probably sick to death of russian politics and problems-wouldnt blame them if they got out,but investors again will not be getting anything like good potential value, even if the bid came in as high as £4.00-i think it could run a lot higher than this in the future

UK smallcap opening - Celtic Resources higher on bid approach

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Punters came for Celtic Resources, 22 pence higher at 225, after the operator of three mines in Kazakhastan received a preliminary approach which may or may not lead to an offer.

In August, Russian steel producer OAO Severstal snapped up a 22 pct stake in AIM-listed Celtic for an undisclosed cash sum.

You really wonder what does it take to shoot this share price up. The stream of good news goes on and on. It has a positive cash flow, a lot of cash in hand, gold production going towards >100k ounces, moly production going up. Gold prices increasing rapidly. New exploration projects. All together they can easily earn more than 40mln USD justifying a share price of over 4GBP.

No wonder it is a takeover target.

However it should be at a siginficant premium. The big difference with EKA is that EKA was running out of cash, whereas CER is piling up too much cash. Besides this is Kevin Foo's baby and I am sure he wouldn't like to part with it without a serious price.

This leaves only one question why is the share price not shooting up.

Can anyone please explain??

well lets hope they dont sell us down the river! as they did with Eureka....

If it doesnt go up today then it doesnt look good as the market would know the figure and if we dont move in at least 10% then get ready for a big kick in the balls

It's all happening for CER at the moment!

Who is the interested party, Severstal perhaps? More importantly at what price, given the cash in the bank and the projects they have, plus the near term increase in production from ramping up Suzdal, it needs to be good.

I agree:

We maintain our Buy recommendation for Celtic Resources, with a target price of £4.17.

After two indifferent years, we believe that Celtic has regrouped and is about to enter a period of sustained growth. Recently, three major moves were made, which we believe, will greatly assist this growth, which is expected to come from an expansion of output at its existing operations plus the development of the Tominskoye porphyry copper/gold project.

I like the interims results a lot. Some highlights:

* the Company is currently completing advanced studies on the potential expansion of Suzdal to result in production in excess of 150,000 ounces per year by the end of 2008.

* In terms of acquisitions, we announced on 11 September 2007 an exclusive option to acquire 100% of the Lobash gold-copper project in Russia, which could contain more than 2.4 million ounces of gold. In addition, Celtic is actively considering a number of acquisitions which could significantly broaden the production and development base of the Company.

* we shall be pursuing expansion plans at our Shorskoye molybdenum mine in Kazakhstan and seeking other suitable projects in the FSU to add to our molybdenum portfolio. As a producer, we are already ahead of most of those seeking to participate in this growth market.

* Suzdal gold production rose 24% in the first half of the year to 30,780 ounces (24,793 ounces first half production 2006). Monthly production has increased from 3,500 ounces in January at 56% overall recovery to approximately 8,500 ounces in both July and August at 76% overall recovery. On track to meet the overall 2007 target production of 83,000 ounces at Suzdal.

* Production at Zherek to 30 June 2007 was 1,950 ounces and to end of August production was 3,000 ounces. We hope to meet the 7,000 ounce target at Zherek for 2007, but oxide ores available for heap leaching are becoming limited.

If they really manage to get gold production to 100,000 - 150.000 ounces (always the big question), they should be making $35mln - $50mln on this alone. Add moly + new aquisitions and we have a very attractive company that could easily have a market cap of $700mln to $1bln => i.e. 3 to 5 times current share price.
