Made it to the AGM.
This is the first AGM I have been to for a few years and the first with the new ownership/management team and I have to say they came across very well.
Given how the Institutions dominate the shareholder base rather surprised there were so many retail investors there. Caldwell and colleagues gave a good presentation but not many questions and we had a factory tour.
In some ways rather a repeat of CWR AGM’s years back ie a very good expose of the macro opportunity but lack of clarity as to when all this will turn into sales-a nd this was not really tackled in the q & a. The maths suggest that they will need to do another equity raise in early 2017 and so one starts to ask what will propel the share price up so that goes away at a decent price-although of course perfectly feasible at least in theorey that one of their prospective partners take a shareholding and they do have the advantage that 2 shareholders own between them 50% of the stock.
I got no insight into when we can think about getting cash flow breakeven-and for all I know they may have no clear view. They clearly thought that today’s RNS with the efficiency gains was really important-they cautioned about there being further advance as they were approaching the point of diminishing returns. Having completed the evaluation phase with the Korean Company KD Navien, they are hoping that in the next few months they will sign a JDA with them and if that were to happen that would provide a fillip. I did not get the sense that the JDA they have with the unnamed Japanese company will be upgraded to a licensing arrangement in the near future but have no idea as to whether feasible to think this may happen in a year’s time. This would be a fillip to the share price as would any decision the Japanese company takes as to be named.
Brief discussion on the V4 to be launched in the middle of next year. The impression I got was that it would not be all that much more advanced than the current V3 except that it would be far easier to manufacture ie hey will be able to use the new high speed print line..
We saw the manufacturing units which is running two shifts 5 days a week producing stuff for their own internal R & D and also to go to companies in the Far East. They were open as to where manufacturing will take place though did say that in the Japanese market people will prefer that manufacturing takes place at least in Japan and very preferably in the Far East.
Said the Japanese market the most sophisticated; the key is to have a small boiler given the size of the houses and they consider they have done this. CWR have a Japanese speaking man stationed in Tokyo.
As a shareholder in ITM interested that he pointed out what they said in the annual report-namely the advantage they have over hydrogen is that they do not require an infrastructure to be built. Of course CWR and ITM are tackling different markets-for now at least.
I have no idea how to logically value this company although my intuition is that with a marcap of approx. £50m this is attractively valued at sub 7p but do not ask me to substantiate this.

Here we go they've started to tempt a few sellers under 7p, could still be a good afternoon and a good few weeks in my view.

With a bit of luck the bid is being held down to fill a bloody big buy order and we'll see some chunky delayed trades.

Good luck, and good luck to ceres.

But historically, uk governments try to stop uk engineering development and leadership, so cwr are up against the government too. They may say the opposite of course, but look at their actions. If ceres switched to making windmills they'd be drowning in grant cash.

Spread narrowing and a tick up not far away for a bit of encouragement anyway.

Yeah, very positive news. As always. Even more progress on the technical front. Been the same for the last 15 years. Always on the edge of great things and about to benefit from a multi-billion market. Expect even more positive news and substantial progress and on the edge of implementation in the nest rns too. and the next and the next.

They'd be better trying to licence their technology to the big players imv instead of trying to go up agaisnt them. I posted the same view when they decided to build their own assembly factory in one of the most expensive parts of the uk.

I hope they eventually succeed, but historically it sn't looking great, is it.

It's sure going steady. To the point of posts being very similar to 3 years ago when british gas (or was it the gas board?) were on the point of bringing this to market and, iirc, had several out in people's homes for final testing. The concept seems to be engineeringly very difficult to implement.

Watching the videos, they obviously aren't a bunch of shysters. But that doesn't mean they have technology which works as implied and is transferable into products today. Indeed, if they could, as I think they stated, produce electricity from gas 20% cheaper than the grid generators, then the puzzle is why the tech isn't being snapped up by every man and his dog. Or even why they themselves don't set up as a grid generator on a massive scale and knock gas turbine owners into touch?

The product is working and being brought to market by several large Distributors of CHP boilers in Korea, Japan, USA and UK. They can't talk about it because of these clients insisting on anonymity, not an unusual thing in such circumstances.
You either consider them a bunch of shysters or accept they have shareholders interests at heart. What is certain you ain't going to get many announcements here so not good for ramping if that is what you want. Steady as we go.

KD NAVIEN LAUNCHES UK OPERATION IN ROTHERHAM

A South Korean boiler manufacturer has chosen Rotherham as its UK headquarters ahead of plans to create up to 100 jobs by opening training centres and a research and development facility in the Sheffield City Region.

KD Navien, which is part of the £4.6bn-turnvover KD group, is taking its first step into launching throughout Europe by establishing itself in Rotherham.

KD Navien’s UK representative Graham Parkes said: "There is an ambitious plan for growth with the goal to recruit up to 100 employees and open training centres by 2017.

"In the UK we have two bases, the European HQ in London and the UK HQ in Sheffield City Region. The opportunity for growth is significant and we are confident we have the right products and support to take the UK by storm."

However they did say the following so its only a question of what "near future" means.

"Looking ahead I expect to convert a number of our evaluation initiatives into significant development programmes and increase the number of partners we have in all stages of engagement. We continue to build relationships with a focus on securing the right strategic partners and I expect to announce further progress in our key relationships in the near future".

Ceres Power Holdings Plc
Ceres Power announces that early test results show an increase of greater than 40% in the overall power density of their Steel Cell technology, through a variety of material and mechanical improvements to cell and stack design. This milestone has been achieved against the company’s internal roadmap and further validates the route to affordable fuel cell products. Ceres expects these improvements to be brought forward from R&D to customer programmes later this year, resulting in lower product costs and accelerating the adoption of end user products using the technology.
The unique Steel Cell technology is a low cost, next generation fuel cell technology and Ceres is working with leading power systems companies to develop and commercialise power products using the technology.
Considerable technical progress has been made in the past 6 months and all of the key technical performance milestones have been met, with an increase of net electrical efficiency to 47%. This is equivalent to the highest performance achieved for SOFC in the Japanese market and superior to existing offerings from PEM technology providers.

Mark Selby, Chief Technology Officer, stated: “The impact of this performance improvement is a potentially a 40% reduction in stack cost and in the region of a 20% reduction in overall system cost. We have a number of exciting technology development programmes, like this one, that will translate into a sustained competitive advantage.”

Re-imagining the Domestic Boiler

According to the International Energy Agency, more efficient production and use of energy in buildings would be the single largest and most cost-effective contributor to reductions in CO2 emissions. Since buildings use 40% of the world's primary energy the incentive for more efficiency is strong.

A trend towards “energy positive houses” targets producing more energy than they use by, coupling high insulation with more energy generation than consumption. 3D simulations are already helping reduce gas consumption in domestic boilers. The adoption of Combined Heat and Power (CHP), which utilises thermal energy that is normally wasted as exhaust, significantly improves energy efficiency. UK based Ceres Power’s unique fuel cell, located at the heart of a generation and exchange system, is an electrochemical engine that makes heat and electricity in houses. A combination of the materials used to make the fuel cell components; the type of fuel used and the operating temperature, allow electricity to be generated directly, via a chemical reaction, rather than burning the fuel. Simulating the fuel cell using 3DEXPERIENCE simulation technologies takes out any guesswork by predicting how physical products will operate - before they are made. This means that every physical prototype has predictable performance. With this technology Ceres Power is developing and perfecting a highly efficient, price competitive, advanced fuel cell based CHP system that will be making a strong contribution towards lowering our carbon footprint into the future.
