to think this share stood at 30p in Dec 2008

I think - without futher information from the company - that it's worth a small punt (money U can afford to miss) - based, if nothing else, on:

why did Aran double their stake, unless they thought it had a future?

Twenty-two percent of the venture funding has just gone to five companies: Nanosys, Quantum Dot, Molecular Imprints, Frontier Carbon and Catalytic Solutions. Acquisitions will be the fate of many start-ups, Modzelewski said.

Nanotechnology is the science of building products out of components measuring less than 100 nanometers, usually designer molecules. (A nanometer is a billionth of a meter, and the word is derived from the Greek root "nano," which means "dwarf.") At this level, many materials, such as gold and silicon, begin to exhibit novel properties.

Self-replication is another distinguishing feature of many nanotech projects. Executives with Palo Alto, Calif.-based Cambrios, for example, believes it will be possible to build electronic devices by controlling chemical reactions, similar to the way clamshells are created though a reaction between inorganic minerals and highly specialized proteins secreted by a bivalve.

The United States remains the largest nano nation in terms of money, according to the report. U.S. governments will spend around $1.6 billion on grants and nano science, or 35 percent of the total worldwide coming from the public sector. All of Asia will spend $1.6 billion, while Europe will invest $1.3 billion.

ANDRABEA ctsu The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced the selection of nine projects totaling $187 million to improve fuel efficiency for heavy-duty trucks and passenger vehicles. The funding includes more than $100 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. With a private cost share of 50%, it will support nearly $375 million in total research, development and demonstration projects.

Currently, the transportation sector accounts for 28% of total US energy use. As the new vehicle technologies are broadly adopted, they could save more than 100 million gallons of gasoline and diesel per day, and reduce carbon emissions from on-road vehicles by 20% by 2030, said the DOE.

Three projects will focus on measures to improve the efficiency of Class 8 long-haul freight trucks by 50% (SuperTrucks). These projects will receive $115 million in funding to develop and demonstrate systems-level fuel efficiency technologies by 2015, including improved aerodynamics, reducing engine idling technologies, waste heat recovery to increase engine efficiency, advanced combustion techniques, and powertrain hybridization. The awards in the SuperTrucks topic area include:

Aran Asset Management has more than doubled its stake in Catalytic Solutions to 8.57%. The transaction took place in January but the company was informed this month. This means the share acquisition was prior to the latest temporary extension of the catalysts and emission control systems developer's bank facility. The facility was due for renewal at the end of 2009 and it has been extended until the end of April. The facility has been reduced from C$8.5m to C$7.5m.

I took a hit with these and sold on 29th when no news came out as presumed no extension granted. Although now granted as per RNS 02/02 I don't like the way the support has gone on the charts and news could be a while. Staying away for now. Got some MMS, PPA, NVTA and WET. These should make me some money before re-considering getting back here before end of April.
