Trades both the same size (which is a very specific size).

Timing of trades implies a rollover.

Difference in trade prices imply that it ISN'T a rollover (ie not that close), but maybe close enough.

Might finally see some of my cash back - limited downside risk now if they stick to the minimum costs and dividend model.
SIS results were very good especially in the middle of a recession.

They always say that about not being able to count on the SIS dividend.

Thanks Graham, that was a much better set of SIS results than I was expecting. I'd hope for a divi in the next results even though they make it clear that no SIS divi to pass on can be counted upon...

Results statement out (well after close of play!) implies that there could well be a dividend payable next year (guess it could represent a 4 to 6% yield based on current price and the profits declared today assuming these are maintained from their SIS holding next year), though there's also a reference to some other type of distribution to shareholders.

Might encourage the share price in the next few months.

MBaxter,

They have announced :

"The Board of Directors of CMG announces that the reduction in the Company's share capital and cancellation of its share premium account, as approved at the Company's extraordinary general meeting held on 17 September 2010, was subsequently confirmed by the Court and became effective on 28 October 2010."

This is supposedly what they had to do before paying dividends.
Thus assuming SIS keep paying a dividend, hopefully most of it will be channeled to shareholders ....

Out of interest if the Daily Telegraph article is true and they were looking for £40 million selling price that works out at £1.42 per share.

Thanks Red Ninja. It will be interesting to see how they play this now. Should be a big fat cash cow with a hefty yield.

Catalyst pulls £40m Satellite Information Services sale
Catalyst Media Group has quietly shelved plans to sell its major asset – a near-21pc stake in Satellite Information Services – after failing to attract bids that met its £40m asking price.

Few buys or sells.

Are we really still looking for a takeover ?

The SIS/CMG results seem encouraging given the adverse market conditions.

The debt will be paid off on the next divi from SIS. SIS should be protected to some degree by long term contracts so hopefully it will not be adversely effected by what may be a diificult 2011.

NAV valuation is moving up nicely, but no buyer as yet.

Well if SIS keep paying CMG dividends hopefully they'll pass on most of that cash to the shareholders assuming no takeover materialises.

"CMX Sept Results (last year)"

Michael Rosenberg , the Chairman commented

"We are pleased to report that during the current financial year the SIS Group has been successful in strengthening its position in its marketplace after the dismissal of the legal dispute with its competitor Turf TV in August 2008 for which SIS was awarded substantial costs. Further to this SIS is now delivering not only its own televised services but also those of Turf TV into more than 75% of the UK market.

Since the year end SIS has now secured the future of its revenue stream from UK racing pictures by agreeing long-term media rights agreements with Arena Leisure and Northern Racing, the major operators in this sector, up to the end of 2016.

Following the acquisition by SIS of BBC's Outside broadcast business, it is now one of the most experienced television, production and outside broadcast service providers in Europe. It is also the largest provider of transportable satellite uplink services in the world, covering 100,000 hours of live events each year including Formula One, The Wimbledon Championships, UEFA Champions League football and European Tour Golf.

We have reduced CMG's borrowings and with a continued dividend policy from SIS we hope to be able to give consideration to the payment of dividends to shareholders by the end of 2010"

Assuming a reasonable SIS dividend we could be looking at a CMX dividend to shareholders this year, but that could all change if a offer for CMX is launched.

The latest RNS

"PUBLIC OPENING POSITION DISCLOSURE BY A PARTY TO AN OFFER"

presumably mean someone is interested in CMX although no mention of possible T/O price.

Any views or is it simply to early to speculate ?

I imagine this could take some time as SIS year end is 31/03/10 and the final results for SIS should come out in July. Last year BBC outside services were loss making, hopefully this year they'll contribute a profit.
