15/7/2008 19:16 | Hi Loryd, Think you are spot on all points, market makers still short of stock today, so looks like there is a few buyers about, fingers crossed. Good value like you say. | wipo1
15/7/2008 09:24 | I suppose it was bound to get hit with the auto sector struggling and general nervousness. Not sure Brian's use of the word "crazy" did much for the share price either. However, it's cheap as chips for the long-term at these prices even if it could well drop further. | loryd
11/7/2008 19:50 | My stop loss got hit at 250p, but back in today a touch under 230p, a fair bit of trading today, market makers had hardly any stock by the looks of it. | wipo1
25/6/2008 11:37 | The second half performance was outstanding - though we should have guessed it would be good after Brian's usually gloomy outlook interim statements. Either he is naturally pessimistic or he is having his fun. The lack of detail is a pain, especially on gross margins given the leap in operating margins. It would also be interesting to know how much they spent on the new foundry in the year. However, for the long-term it looks very good value with the cash, the increased capacity and, critically, its high reputation with it customers. Trouble is, it is too long-term for most investors. | loryd
25/6/2008 11:15 | Profits and EPS very good,a pity about cost rises effecting the share price today. No real indication of how much costs will hit headline profits, if it is say 1-2 million, hardly a disaster, the company has no debt and high profits compared to market cap. Lots of other companies in the same boat with costs going up,CGS should come through the tough times ok. | wipo1
03/6/2008 17:49 | Their reputational strength seems key. They may hit a problem if the trucks sector softens alongside autos, but looking beyond that they look very-well managed, have cash, are almost pathologically cautious, and offer rewards to anyone willing to wait. And wait. And wait... Quoted in today's FT by the way in article on UK maufacturing's strengths. | loryd
19/3/2008 14:59 | wipo1 - This is one for 'real' people:-) it may be a one post a year thread but all the better for that (My last post was in 2003 BTW) Speed Camera quote "They bought equipment from abroad on the cheap and what do you guess? it's breaking down" now where have I heard that before!! People think 'cos it's a low tech process it's easy to do, well it maybe low tech but what Castings do still requires some skill and that's where the imports are nearly always at a disadvantage!! | losos
08/2/2008 11:05 | Nice rise, looks very cheap compared to GDWN | wipo1
24/1/2008 22:47 | Hi JeanAl, Glad to see someone else interested, thought I was talking to myself on here! lol Yes very good value, has plenty of assets, cash in the bank, hardly any debt and a positive outlook. Very good value stock IMHO. | wipo1
24/1/2008 19:01 | Great value in this company. Director buy on 22/01/08. Still up on year unlike many! | jeanal
16/1/2008 13:28 | Tempted to buy more at this ludicrous price, market makers are at it, they know this company is worth a lot lot more! Check the balance sheet | wipo1
27/12/2007 18:16 | Thanks for info speed camera, CGS is a great undervalued and overlooked company, I will continue to hold for a while yet. | wipo1
27/12/2007 17:38 | Apparently Castings is getting work from coal mine operators in the UK. They bought equipment from abroad on the cheap and what do you guess? The stuff is breaking down and in desperation to keep production close to schedule Castings and the like are getting premium orders from the colleries to replace faulty parts. Let it continue. | speed camera
29/11/2007 09:25 | Excellent results from CGS as expected, this management team would do a better job of running the UK than bill in ben and no. 10 and 11 | wipo1
08/11/2007 12:34 | Castings going up in these markets, still no interest? anyone out there? | wipo1
09/8/2007 12:13 | Now even cheaper, market makers playing silly games marking down on no volume no news. Market cap 118 million, if it was high tech would be worth double! Stock market strange! | wipo1
25/5/2007 10:18 | Good results, plenty of asset backing and no debt. Nice yield to pick up as well, very surprised not much interest. I bought some yesterday and I am looking to add, shares look undervalued to me. | wipo1
07/4/2006 14:51 | very interesting company and the questions on my mind are: is it in play...takeover becoming more of a reality trading statement about to be released? I have been watching for a while and it gets more and more interesting I may have a holding by the end of the day | tillman
17/1/2006 18:52 | Anyone still watching this - just popped out of a stock screen as a potential long | zzaxx99
20/6/2005 11:48 | ...and sailing through it. | peladon
16/6/2005 12:45 | Approaching the 6 year high. | peladon
24/5/2005 09:04 | Surprised there has been no comment. Much better results than I expected plus 25 million net cash in the bank. And Mr Cooke is ALWAYS very cautious and honest in his outlook. | muangsing
15/2/2005 11:04 | I have heard that things at castings are very healthy and they have a very full order book. | willybaby
13/2/2005 20:40 | Busines is still good but the query is about profitability in view of the Chairman's quotes. I expect the price has gone up in line with other engineers. No doubt the sector has come up on the analysts radar!! | linhur |
