24/5/2003 22:29 | A canny company, you wont lose your shirt on this stock. A projected yld of 4.91% and it has outperformed FTSE in the last 12 month from 23.5.02 and has never faultered in that period to do so. | washbrook
24/5/2003 22:21 | Good results. Castings have written off pension deficit all in one go. Profits ex pension are similar to last year. Turnover up 6%. Prospects should be better for this year as sterling devaluation will make them more competitive than German competitors. | linhur
12/5/2003 16:02 | Some big 100 and 200K buys yesterday - results date announced today. Better than expected results? Bid talks? Who knows CR | cockneyrebel
22/10/2002 15:01 | washbrook: a story I read recently; Someone is applying to move to Aus and is asked by the immigration officer whether he has any criminal convictions. "Why, is it still required?" he replies. Must be pleasant in Brisbane this time of year. On Castings I share your opinion, hard to get excited about their prospects at the moment no matter how much cash on the balance sheet. | a7009090
20/10/2002 18:41 | Found this: Well AliceinWonder(ment?) not quite in the middle of the night as I live in Brisbane, Australia - so its surprisingly easy to do those early morning posts - its like falling down a great big hole and every thing is upside down & back to front - things you can relate to I think? There will be a few Australian shareholders like me - as "Hunter Hall" - a local Oze mutual fund owns about 15% of Castings and is a great admirer of the MD! I personally do not think Castings is a great bargain at current levels - but if you want a no debt operation with a proven track record - with management of great integrity and knowledge of their trade you can look no further than Castings. Also on the books is Lupus Capital - a so called pro active investor - however none has been able to change the management style/approach of the MD. Most think there is a case for a share re-purchase scheme or some return of capital - however Brian Cooke from all accounts gets PLENTY advice on these matters and he ignores it all!!! Being an Oze I know nothing about your alternate investment but one day someone will "raid" that Castings cash pile! | washbrook
24/5/2002 10:55 | good results, good prospects, decent dividend, cash rich, seems like a good hold | stable
