bones: There is 6 months worth of resistance at 250p which is making it hard for the share price to crack on past there, but the pressure is building. Once through 250p on a closing basis for two days, I will expect this to challenge blue sky. Bearing in mind the 172p special dividend in early 2012, the equivalent all time high (from the last five years at any rate) is only 20p above the current price.

libertine: BROKER CALL: Morgan Stanley bullish as it initiates coverage on new Carphone Warehouse 30 March, 2010 07:37:59 AM Morgan Stanley says don't be put off by the corporate structure as it initiates coverage of the stock with an overweight recommendation and 235p a share price target. Broker adds: 'The newly demerged CPW entity may not have the most attractive corporate structure, but it offers investors direct exposure to three attractive growth stories: Best Buy Mobile's expansion in the US, Best Buy's rollout of 'Big Box' stores in Europe, and Virgin Mobile's expansion in France. If all three are successful, New CPW will likely deliver a five-year EPS CAGR of above 35% - more than double that of any other stock we cover.

keepitup: Well looks as though i was right a few weeks back that poorer times were ahead, share price sharply down on when i last posted. And Jazza: jazza - 15 Apr'08 - 08:35 - 2479 of 2525 The big problem is of course the £/Euro rate. Until the £ strengthens against the Euro, the CPW share price will remain weak IMHO. I agree with you here, but what makes you think the £ will strengthen especially against the Euro? It looks set to weaken even more and i believe that we will see £1 = 1 Euro not so far in the future. What will this do to CPW? And many more companies for that matter. Just under £2 realistic here imo. I also heard on radio 4 that Charles Dunstone remarked re over the share price drop during the last few months "well im here to run a business and not to be concerned over a share price". Good to know he is in your court (not)! Also, one more point to make. With rising fuel and cost of living going up and up there will be a many people (especially the 20-30s) who will find it hard to spend on credit or cash. This new phone out in June will not be as popular as some of you seem to think. I stand to be corrected and we shall see.

1df: I agree with you. CPW are indeed being honest when they say they can get you a better deal because they invariably can. This usually involves a brand new handset (free) plus a better tariff than the one you were on. The customer is happy, CPW are happy and CPW shareholders are happy. Sure the customer signs a new contract but they were going to be spending that money on a mobile anyway. However the ballgame is changing in that this situation - which has persisted for years - is going to be changed by the operators to the detriment of CPW. Vodafone is the catalyst if you like. All I can say is CPW shareholders - potential or actual - need to be aware of this situation; the CPW board are being stupid to say that it's business as usual. It might be for a few months but to pretend the current business model - heavily subsidised by the operators - is going to carry on forever is just wisful thinking I'm afraid. Look at the changes that have occurred in the very recent past - O2 buying "The Link" retail network plus the broadband provider "BE"; Three opening their own "Three Stores"; Orange providing free broadband but from only Orange shops - and you'll see Vodafone getting a better contract from Phones4U is just the start of changes that are going to affect CPW and the CPW share price. I have been a fan of CPW in the past but I am patently aware that these issues are not going to go away.
