I bought a lot more shares today after rereading the financial statement from last year. Here is a copy of the outlookOutlookGiven the strength of our order book, framework contracts and pipeline of contract opportunities, we believe we are well positioned to make further progress in 2017. We will continue to be selective in terms of the contracts for which we bid and adapt to trends in our geographies and key markets, in order to focus on new or growing opportunities, such as those we expect in our infrastructure services markets, both in the UK, and in Canada. Consequently, we expect the proportion of our total revenue and operating profit from our support services activities to continue increasing, and for this to more than offset a further reduction in operating profit in PPP projects, because the contribution from selling equity investments will again be lower in 2017. Delivering strong cash flow remains a key objective and our ambition over the medium term is to reduce net borrowing, while continuing to invest to support the development of the business.

UtyINV - I believe you are intelligent enough to tell me the reason for the above and I am listening.

I don't expect the share price of Carillion will go through the roof on 1st of March. The result for the years 2016 may not be the best in the last 2 years but I am certain that it will not be the worst in the past 8 years. How come the share price should fall to 8 years low?

The shorters have just four working days before the results on Wed 1 March.
Perhaps we have already seen the turn late today with the dip to 211p. The next two days should be interesting.

This "shorters" discussion is becoming repetitive and pointless.

Today's price movements are probably sector related (as noted by others). If there was any significant change in the company's trading position compared to the update on 7 December:

it would have been obliged to inform the market.

It has not.

kcsham,

Yes, he posted this on February 15th:

If this is the most Shorted stock on the Market is there a fundamental reason that the 'Shorters' may know about via Corporate leaks or what?

Lets not forget the Company did say late last year that 2017 was going to be a very tough year and that profits were going to be down. What if the 'Shorters' have some incline as to what is going to be disclosed on 1st March?

'Get the feeling that the Shorts know something that the rest of us don't.'

How do they get that knowledge ? Yes, CLLN is in touch with some of the shorters to find out why they are doing so, but the company cannot tell them anything that is not already in the public domain without breaking the law, which I am sure they would not do.

The very size of the shorting has been sufficient to cause a fall in the share price Potential investors are not buying because they too feel that the shorters know something we don't so the shorters have half their work already done for them.

Unless we have been lied to by the company (which we will know one way or another next Wednesday) then I'm afraid, UtyINV, it is paranoia.

Get the feeling that the Shorts know something that the rest of us don't. Not being paranoid but leaks do occur and tend to favour the 'City' parasites in Mayfair ( UK HEdge Funds).

In the news yesterday was a piece regarding DB pensions and the Gov are contemplating allowing Companies who are in difficulty to renege on pension promises i.e. Offering a lower payout that will not cripple the Company. So if it's the pension deficit that is making this stock so undesirable then there may be something in the future that will aid Carillion.

8 year low? Yet 8 years ago on a P/E of 12 it was twice what it is now.

Cheers for that spoole, was not awake to the Serco warning.

Of course they are trading on a much higher rating even after the 19% falls today.

Serco warning not helping here today, although the shorters hardly need an excuse.
