06/4/2016 23:06 | Xtouch is never going to be a mass market phenomenon it's got too many processes in it. So it won't be succeeding where Xsense failed but combined with UNXL diamond guard I can see its a niche product that suits the high end market. As far as I remember the payment already received by CAR counts as a prepayment against royalty payments to a certain level - so no more payments until and unless UNXL make it above that level. Whether they will? I wish them luck of course...... cheers | illiswilgig
06/4/2016 21:55 | Great post -clear,logical and informative.I have been noting these various bits of news on Unipixel/Atmel etc.Too lazy to follow up -so thanks. Got to believe wan was one of the great posters-still is I'm sure.Anyway even if its peanuts its better than nowt. | meijiman
06/4/2016 20:23 | The Unipixel situation is rather ironical. At one stage they were the arch-enemy until both sides agreed a legal fight over patents, ipr, agreements made/broken etc was not worthwhile. Then Unipixel bought Atmel's S Clara line and signed a new agreement with CAR and we thought that was probably the last we would hear. Now, against all expectations (on our side anyway) UNXL appear to be making it work. So what's in it for CAR? This is the rns announcement of the arrangement - I haven't worked any likely figures on it as rather early days. There is a royalty stream of 1.67% with a clearly stated overall cap at $30m if the extension is taken up, which would correspond with $1800m sales. Did the bitter pill we swallowed in 2014 have a sweet centre after all? Actually, I doubt that the returns will be very significant but at least they will not require any further diversion of either cash or management effort. P.S: UNXL is still on my monitor screen where I used to enjoy watching its share price slide! I see it was up about 20% earlier today - now retracing. | boadicea
06/4/2016 14:23 | Cheers mf. Unipixel are on a roll - more good news today: "UniPixel Awarded Two 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop Programs from a Major U.S. PC Manufacturer New Orders from Existing Customer SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UniPixel, Inc. (UNXL), a provider of advanced touch solutions to the touchscreen and flexible electronics markets, today announced that it has been awarded two new 2-in-1 convertible programs from a leading PC manufacturing customer. 2-in-1 convertible computers combine the best features of a laptop and a tablet in one device. etc" | rivaldo
06/4/2016 09:28 | No rivaldo - it is just guesswork. | michaelfenton
06/4/2016 05:54 | Thanks boadicea. That makes sense. RNS tomorrow may help to cure my nerves. I am as confident that the news will be good as I have ever been. | michaelfenton
05/4/2016 22:19 | Michaelf - "Why there are no buyers I cannot imagine?" The market is probably not as unbalanced as would appear from the standard 'mid-price +/-' analysis. Two of my recent purchases were executed on ISDX which, shown at the time by advfn but only on the Java stream, is not archived by advfn. Today's buy was also analysed as a 'sell'. I think you can take it that the market is essentially balanced and ~125p is where it wants to be. The poor liquidity mentioned by rivaldo also doesn't help as it causes a wide formal spread and deters potential investors who don't bother to explore the actual traded prices. Remember also the current tax year effects and brexit nerves - not that I see any particular negativity due on that point. The next couple of weeks could see some significant individual share movements arising from such distortions. I have started gently adding on the dips as I like the current scenario and expect a rerating as memory of the X-sense disappointment fades. Of those I currenly hold, this has been my second most profitable share over a period of time but the holding has been much reduced, firstly due to being overweight when around its peak 3 years ago and later on its subsequent decline. Now getting ready to ride the next wave! | boadicea
05/4/2016 10:44 | Those days of 450p seem a distant memory. Still like this longer term. | meijiman
05/4/2016 10:01 | Cheers Michael. CAR is surprisingly illiquid, which works both on the upside and the downside, so if the upcoming trading statement is half-decent - and I'm fully expecting it to be good and perhaps extremely good - then hopefully we'll see a big re-rating here. | rivaldo
05/4/2016 08:21 | rivaldo - good comment - Why there are no buyers I cannot imagine? | michaelfenton
05/4/2016 07:48 | The year end trading update is due any day now (9th and 7th April the last two years). Given the February trading statement it should be good imo, and may well be helped further by currency movements. Even at merely in line for the year just ended, with CAR forecast to achieve consensus 11.5p EPS this current year its P/E will drop to a mere 11 - with a PEG of only 0.5 given 22% EPS growth. Extremely undervalued imho. | rivaldo
31/3/2016 14:06 | News from UNXL, who appear to be finally gaining some traction: "UniPixel Earns XTouch™ Production Win at Major U.S. Computer Manufacturer Marks Second Program Win with New Customer in 2016 SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UniPixel, Inc. (UNXL), today announced a design win for its XTouch sensor that will be included in a ruggedized 11.6-inch tablet designed for military and first responders by a major U.S. computer manufacturer. This is the second program award for UniPixel from this new customer during 2016. XTouch production orders for the tablet are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2016. This product award follows delivery of more than 2,000 production validation units to the customer for this program, as well as provision of design-in and testing support services to the computer manufacturer's ecosystem, including the ODM (original design manufacturer) and Touch Panel Module Integrator." | rivaldo
29/3/2016 08:35 | Interesting comment from another thread: "I have just had the opportunity to work for McLaren for a short time, As a Carclo shareholder it has been quite satisfying seeing truck loads of Wipac Lights being offloaded. Last week the company went to a two shift rota hoping to up production from around 1500 cars last year to 3000 cars this year, so I would hazard a guess of between 1.2m + extra turnover, a good increase for Wipac if McLaren can meet their production targets." Also, VEC's takeover of SKP now in train could perhaps produce some useful opportunities/introd | rivaldo
28/3/2016 18:04 | I note that Siemens' healthcare business saw accelerated order growth of 8% and revenue growth of 11% in Q1'16 (calendar Q4'15), which augurs well for CAR's H2 to 31/3/16. | rivaldo
22/3/2016 19:07 | Thanks, pldazzle, I did; edited [10792] accordingly. LED on the brain at the mo! | ansc
22/3/2016 18:27 | ansc - did you mean LPA?? | pldazzle
22/3/2016 08:41 | An absolute stunner of an AGM statement yesterday from LPA who, like Wipac, are involved with LED albeit in a different market segment; in 45 years of dabbling, I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it! Should augur well for CAR's trading statement due in the not-too-distant future. LED appears to be going great guns. | ansc
21/3/2016 09:27 | Thanks Rivaldo for your continued good and relevant research. | michaelfenton
21/3/2016 09:16 | CAR getting the CDS/Micropoc message out last week at the Point of Care Diagnostics 2016 summit: "14:30 Carclo Diagnostic SolutionsTechnology Spotlight: Introducing micropoc®: High quality POC Results on Reader-less, Fully Disposable Systems Designed for Low Cost Manufacture Simon Forster, General Manager, Carclo Diagnostic Solutions An overview of the exciting development of a group of unique POCT platforms that utilise novel microfluidics design, material science, precision manufacturing, micro-electronics and biochemistry, to provide high quality results on reader-less, fully disposable systems for a wide range of applications." | rivaldo
16/3/2016 13:46 | Good news - McLaren have announced that they are developing 15 vehicles. Bad news - They probably mean that they will be making a total of 15 vehicles! | mrangry2
15/3/2016 14:57 | I'm quite keen to get some share price rises as well, back to the levels I was buying at ages ago. | yump
15/3/2016 14:23 | Encouraging to see UNXL receive a contract today with volume production later this year for a 13.3-inch notebook PC: This follows another win earlier in March for a convertible laptop/tablet programme: | rivaldo
14/3/2016 09:39 | The year end trading statement will be out pretty soon - (9th and 7th April the last 2 years).
