Has been pointed out to me that the activist hedge fund Ironsides slightly reduced their holding on 1st July - crossing the 14% threshold and announcing a 13.99% stake of 3.048m.

They have reduced from 3.223m in Mar'14 & 3.298m in Feb'14.

No big deal; but helps explain why we're still waiting to cross the 600p level!

SoV - hmm - 2.8% yield and 13% NAV discount. Don't really see the Value in that unless you think there is substantial hidden value about to be realised and distributed.

They became massively overbought a year ago; and have been a poor market since. Can't see why one would fancy a turnaround anytime soon!

You seem right more often than not though, so what am I missing?

HgCapital Trust could offer low risk, steady growth and lower volatility going forward. After making a purchase yesterday I have started a new thread to track HGT's performance. HgCapital announced today an investment in Sequel Business Solutions which values the Sequel group at circa £100 million. If HGT proves to be another CDI before its share price began rising for me in January of this year I will be extremely pleased.

Yes, I agree - normally a good way of keeping the pressure on and competition on price and timing. Looks like we should see a deal in the next month or two, hopefully...now is the time to get this away.

An IPO would be a good outcome for CDI, however I'm sure ARLE would prefer the clean resolution of a takeover for Expro. Perhaps the IPO listing is a shrewd tactical move to flush out the anticipated US bidder.

They have announced a US listing filing today. Interesting times. Suspect it's a twin track IPO/takeover route. Looks like IPO might win out!

Nice reaction to the Expro story moving along one stage further:

Currently up 34p, just bumping the 600p mark.

Another Oil & Gas Services group - KENTZ - has fallen to a bid at a 32% premium to yesterday's market price.

Surely EXPRO's turn soon...

SKYSHIP,
I do hope so, before the markets cool off any further.

Interesting rise in the Bid first thing this morning - currently 574p-575p.

Could this be the pre-cursor to the next run - hopefully an EXPRO-inspired gain!

Good results. Cautious short-term outlook as contract timing looks a potential issue for 2014. Excellent long-term outlook. Looks a more likely acquisition for a US major than a float in my opinion. Wouldn't be surprised to see a deal closed in weeks.

The Expro order book got a little better. Results when announced should be pleasing for CDI.

You're right about the Expro figures - I think CDI originally said last week of may but Expro itself indicates 2 June. And I should clarify: they have a 31 March year end so though it's calendar first quarter, it's actually 4th quarter and full year for the company.

Yes, thanks - interesting. I think the EXPRO results are next week from memory. It's on the EXPRO site. Just need the theme park investment pointing in the right direction and all their big 3 are progressing nicely ahead of sale.

Skyship, that's what I am thinking... there were one or two stories that the Fokker business was up for sale or heading towards an IPO a while back, and they also have news flow... they're confirmed as manufacturers for the Honda Aircraft Co "HondaJet" tail assembly (empennage). The first HondaJet production model has just gone into ground testing. Interestingly, in June last year, the finance director said that Fokker's owners were planning their exit, to happen within 2 years... and we're halfway through that.

tiredoldbroker - many thnx for that. Recovery plans seems to have been consolidated; so would expect a valuation uptick. Also must surely be a boon for the exit strategies...

Given the Candover Fund paid the equivalent of £92m I would have thought that they would want to get over £100m back with EXPRO having such a good recent trading record.
