It's difficult to understand the share price performance here when the papers are full of news about record car sales!

Always good to compare notes on companies in the same sector.

Keeps drifting lower on smallish trades. This is either a great bargain or something iffy going on behind the scenes. Analysts in general are quite negative on the sector for the bigger names, we've hit a peak for sales etc and that can't help but a good business is a good business - is this one?

There was a welcome boost for the UK motor sector this morning, and in the wider context the UK economy, (brexit concerns etc) as the SMMT published their figures for new car registrations for the month of September - the second largest month for the industry with the new plate change.
The highest ever number of units for a September were recorded, 469,696 being 1.6% over September 2015. YTD figures for 2016 are now 2.6% ahead of 2015.

In the spirit of being more ruthless with my losers I am out - despite the positive trading statements the big boys don't seem willing to buy and drive price up and it's now got itself into a downtrend

New car market still showing year on year growth......
"The UK new car market achieved modest growth in August, as registrations rose 3.3% against the same month last year, according to figures released today by SMMT. 81,640 new cars were registered in the month, with year-to-date performance remaining positive, up 2.8% to 1.68 million units"

Trading Statement out......all very positive....
CAMB remains my largest holding in the sector and I see no reason to change.....
Whole sector continues to be undervalued IMO

Considering all press reports suggest this sector is, well, motoring and their last update was exceeding expectations I am surprised to see this so flat recently

I am expecting a Trading Update around 8 September (the date in both 2014 and 2015) which ties in with its 31 August year end.

Very little transanctional volume on CAMB recently, but noticed 6 buys already this morning. Is that a "flurry"?

Following PDG's positivity, today SMMT have released their monthly new car registration figures for the month of July. Which in the context of the british economy after the "brexit" vote are quite a significant indicator of sentiment. Pleasingly for the motor retailers the figures show an increase (albeit tiny) vs July last year of 0.1% with total registrations of 178,523.
SMMT Commented "With low interest rates, attractive finance options and exciting new models coming to the showrooms, the market still has lots to offer customers.”

Interesting to see PDG's generally positive H1 results. Hadn't previously noticed that PDG have a defined benefit pension scheme which is doing their finances no good whatsoever.

Glad CAMB are not in the same situation.
