good news the deposit for the Malta sale has been paid, now we await th planning permission, and when/if that comes the company will complete and be very cash rich - hope that some will be paid out to shareholders for years of waiting with no divs and restriction on minimum number of shares held etc......

Methinks someone has finally persuaded the Bailey Boy (son of recentlty deceased Dad) that there's dosh to be made by getting the shares to motor (by earning profits from their immense assets) instead of them being immersed in the heat of Africa "managing" the safari resorts each day.

Its a bit more up beat (and a little more 'modern') but still tells us little about where tthe new cash is going. I note that the doughty Mrs Bailey is still on the board, she must be well into her eighties! However, the company now has a future.

I think the market has been told there is a keen buyer for any of the very few shares that come on offer - this is a company with a few shareholers with the minority of shares, the family have most, and if I were them i would buy up any shares going -just so happens, I believe that some stale holder decides to cash in a very spondulics...........In fact I might buy some.........

Agreed....there must be a plan being formulated from within.

Odd thing about the latest flurry is that it was a sudden surge of tiny trades after weeks of zilch. Does this suggest there's a story flying around within a group of people ?

maybe someone is looking for a clean company with lots of ££££££ and a basic business and a foothold in Malta - or BLEY itself has expansion plans -whatever the present share price does not reflect the true current asset value.......£2-3?

Hard to see what pressure a 3% holder can exert here at all ..the Family own the vast majority of the the company. They will have a palan and the exciting thing I believe is the new guy on the board who bought a lot of shares at £1.77 I think.

Don't forget that a certain Mr David Newlands recently bought a stake in both Bailey and similar prospective "shell" company Assoc British Engineering (ASBE).

The latter company has since announced a deal. Is Newlands trying to persuade Bailey to do similar ?

And no one has told me yet whether this is the same David Newlands that was once the adviser to the legendary Arnold Weinstock of GEC.

I don't think there are any major Cardiff assets left ...they sold them I am sure a while back

it only takes a dribble of shares to raise the share price briskly. Seems somehing in the wind, perhaps the last leg of the Malta sale and still there are Cardiff assets. Could see these at £2+ soon?

so the shares were stuck in the 5p-7p range for years on end & they had property valued in 1978 prices of about £6m - easily worth 5-7 times that on the CBDP potential back in late 80's

guess you can tell i got burned on this - cost me around £5k then

when they were developing the Cardiff Bay Docklands these cowboys could of sold acres of land & property for £m's but decided not to in their own best interest

The Cardiff Bay Barrage itself is 1.1km long and extends from Cardiff docks in the north to Penarth in the south. This major civil engineering construction project subsequently led to the impoundment of the bay that has over 13km of waterfront.

This 220 million pound project (commenced in 1987) was the catalyst for the 2 billion pound regeneration of the old docklands areas of Cardiff and Penarth.

Because it is operated & ran like a private company - they used to hold AGM's on Boxing Day or NY Eve

Can anyone explain why it cost almost 1m££ to manage shrinking assets and earn around £9,000 for the privilege? Or so the accounts say.

Persistent small buying here - are we perhaps due some news of a game changing acquisition - or alternatively a profitable sale of the Malta town house - either way it would be a long overdue reminder of the value that one can buy into here !

blimey, a recent dividend (only the second in, what, 30 years ?) and interim results showing a profit: methinks something is changing at this dog of a stock. Anything to do with the recent share stake purchases ?

Not much to gte too excited about in those results. Nice to see that base trading is profitable but not much indication of what is next. Will have to wait on Malta planning I guess

Would need to see what they intended to do .. can't help thinking whatever they decide to do it will be property based and as all property companies trade below net assets I still think I would like my money and then sell. Fingers crossed though

The buyer is at it again today - he seems very keen to build a stake, I wonder if he perhaps has some idea of what the new manĀ“s game-plan is. If we get a tasty acquisition then this might ultimately prove more rewarding than a special dividend, harrogate !
