10/10/2007 07:44 | results as flagged back in August, this is a really good example of how ruthless competition can be. S&N introduce a nigh on identical looking but considerably inferior product their Bulmers and force their pubs and bars to stock it , in effect removing magners from the fridge and thus devastating sales regardless of the poor summer. the only upside i can see is enjoying the great taste of Magners. | jonnyno1
09/10/2007 19:06 | That will devastate the company......Anyone who follows this knows theres a turf war going on. | eoc74
09/10/2007 17:10 | Magners no longer sold by the local Fullers pub I am told. | darias
07/10/2007 15:22 | C&C to stay in European test markets - Sunday Business Post 07 October 2007 Cider company C&C will tell the market on Wednesday that it plans to stay in its test markets in Europe, Munich and Barcelona, despite the problems it faces in Britain, according to market sources. There had been speculation that the Magners and Bulmers owner would pull out of Munich as it attempts to address competitive pressure in the British markets. The company will report its half-year results on Wednesday. It is understood that C&C wants to continue to learn from tests in both markets, after achieving ''good acceptance'' by consumers. However, no further rollout of the cider brand is planned in these markets or in the rest of Europe at present, as Britain is the company's ''critical focus''. C&C has no plans to cut its marketing spend despite speculation that it would. C&C chief executive Maurice Pratt will ramp up the firm's sales force in Britain. | itansey

27/9/2007 17:43 | Well I'm not buying mate , not sure if I would keep holding or not if I had any. On balance I probably would as it can't get much lower and a buyout might add 30% or so. | bionicdog
27/9/2007 12:16 | You called it very well all along bionic dog. Whats your take at the moment or are you purely technical analysis driven? | eoc74
27/9/2007 11:07 | In what way have you called it correctly before? Not by posting your target price on here for all to see then selling as I did. I could be wrong I suppose , but I don't remember it. | bionicdog
27/9/2007 10:26 | A pub landlord told me last night he was shifting loads of the stuff 'at weekends' - this in chilly, autumnal, Yorkshire. In 2 years in GB Magners has established itself as a 'must have' brand. Quite an achievement. The Times note today that manuacturing the Clonmel plant is operating 'at only 50% to 60% of capacity' - the capacity is there for more sales. I have called his share correctly before, buying in spring 2006, then selling before the profit warning of 2007, by following the evidence of my own eyes. I note that my local Wetherspoons have stopped selling Bulmers, 'nobody drank it', said the manager. I've bought in once again, in anticipation of a 'normal' summer, in 2008. | lobby ludd
25/9/2007 13:06 | True. DOesnt change my long term stance whether its true or not. I suspect sales have picked up since the summer. Good to see theyve seen the light and are advertising in other ways. | eoc74

24/9/2007 10:15 | excellent new advertising on magners. It addresses the distinction between magners and bulmers. | finbarr
24/9/2007 09:25 | It seems to be very difficult to get any data on this company. I have been trying to find out where their US sales and other European sales are accounted for and cannot find anything. Neither can I find the latest Nielsen data. | eoc74

23/9/2007 23:57 | All it says is that the board have taken their eye off the ball which is obvious. No talk today of a takeover either. However, that Head and Shoulder bottom looks very interesting. | eoc74
