Netstore was bid for and we know BSG too cheap, plus large king-maker stake. So an offer must be a distinct possibility.

I still hold a small amount of these. I sold most after the results which I thought disappointing.
If BSG interests you then take a look at SKC where net cash also covers about 90% of the market cap. Difference is SKC's profits are now growing strongly. They recently announced their interim results. Operating profit quadrupled to 0.2M for the 6 month period. Outlook is for continued growth. Remarkably the company is only valued at 0.5M! (stripping out the cash)
interims:

Note. SKC also has a stake in sportcal.com + freehold property worth 0.5M.

"languishing at the tip price?". This is the tip I copied down (no date, unfortunately):

"I find it difficult to believe that the great depths of experience and contact will not allow that contracted income to grow, nor that 30 million pounds of annual turnover is not worth much more than the 5 million pounds at which the company is valued - net of the cash. And that 5 million pounds would take five years to be generated at last year's pace. But these arguments are academic. What is more practical is the fact that if forward way is being achieved - and I think that it is - the City will eventually wake up to that fact and pay proper attention. (I also like the fact that if there is much downward potential, it is hard to discern). After all, risk is the name of the game.

But there are no forecasts, so perhaps this conjecture is wide of the mark. But how much would it cost to buy the business? That's conjecture too, but here's my estimate - 25p, and all points north from that. So that is my target price, and tells you why I regard Business Systems Group as a good risk - and a definite buy.

Share price: 17.25 - 18.75p"

Pat

Out of interest do you know how much effect this contract loss will have?

BSG should do around 1M pre-tax profit this year. Around 0.4M will be on interest on cash and 0.6M operating profit. I just wonder how much effect losing a 2M per annum contract can have on a business with 35M in revenues? Even if you halve operating profit to 0.3M then BSG should still do say 0.7M next year. But they also say the expect to be able to compensate for the loss of this contract in other ways. So its not clear and Im personally not worried. The 9M or so cash (versus 10M market cap) protects the downside.
