Pearson have issued five profit warnings in four years, but I get your point. For those wanting GP to fall on his sword, John Fallon at Pearson has overseen all five.....

If profit warnings come in threes, could those who posted this please supply examples and explain why BT should be a further example?

Thought not...

Is Italy such a big thing in the overall picture, multi national blue chip play, good cash earner, divi is around 4%+ I think, should be safe. Should blow over in a few weeks, buy when others are fearful, seems to work well for most, as long as you are not expecting short term profits.

If the divi was just held for the next 2 years that would be a result imv,
a fat yield at the current share price on a held dividend.

Listening to CNBC, even at a yield right now of 10%, they could the dividend to yield 6%, right now that would still be a good payout at the current price, if you are in why sell now, for new investors this could be a steal!

Market euphoria is somehow connected with accounting irregularities...Tesco mark2...

It is not a profits warning per se, it is the discovery of an accounting irregularity based on over-stating profits, but they are kitchen sinking the job!

Not quite sure how you research a set of cooked books without being actually involved.

Following brokers views is usually a quick way to the poorhouse,
they can change their mind in a blink of an eye, usually better to DYOR imv.

Guys - lets look at some numbers.
- The RNS says approx impact on EBITDA for 2016/17 is EBITDA £7.6bn
- broker forecast before this news was EBITDA expectation £7.9bn (Morning Star)

So that's a net drop of 4% EBITDA due to the Italian job.

So is the likely impact on net profits and eps likely to be -18%, which is the share price price drop as we speak?

IMO there is a lot of panic selling going on. I have a cast iron rule not to catch a falling knife (though the temptation is huge in this case)

And there is always the concern that this may not be the end of it in terms of bad news.

Please do your own maths and this is just my opinion

Don't you just love those pesky brokers, this month, 3 as a buy & one overweight with price targets between 400-560p and only 1 had them as a sell, another stunning performance from the knowledgeable ones.
