I agree it would be better to raise rates now - wouldn't it be just typical that rates go up and then there is a big market rally because the uncertainty is gone

I just wish we`d get this US rate rise out of the way. The uncertainty is really unsettling the markets. Maybe next week ?

4 Great Growth Picks For 2016 And Beyond: Barclays PLC, Dechra Pharmaceuticals plc, Britvic Plc And Marks & Spencer Group Plc,

Britvic

Thanks to strength in overseas markets, I believe beverages giant Britvic (LSE: BVIC) is a great pick for those seeking solid earnings growth. The business -- which boasts terrific brand power through labels like Robinsons, J2O and Gatorade -- saw total revenues edge 1% higher during April-June, powered by sales growth of 7.1% in France and 6.8% in other international markets.

Britvic has doubled-down on investment in its colossal brand portfolio to push sales higher again, including fresh product roll-outs and innovation across key labels. On top of this, Britvic has also been busy on the M&A front and supercharged its strength in emerging markets in July with the purchase of Brazil's ebba, giving it access to the world's sixth largest soft drinks market.

The Hemel Hempstead firm has already proved itself a reliable earnings generator, and the City expects earnings to keep rattling higher -- a 10% advance is chalked in for the year concluding September 2015, resulting in an attractive P/E ratio of 14.5 times. And an extra 7% rise forecast for the following year pushes the multiple to an appetising 13.5 times.

Product Launch - Britvic's J20 Midnight Forest

Britvic has added another flavour to its new limited-edition Midnight J20 range. Days after unveiling Midnight Amber, the UK soft drinks maker has announced Midnight Forest, a blend of orange and cherry fruit juices with chocolate flavouring.

The Midnight range will be supported by a GBP2m (US$3m) marketing campaign, the largest spend for a J20 limited edition, according to Britvic. A UK TV ad campaign will start in November.

Britvic said the fantasy-world-inspired Midnight Forest responds to the growing consumer demand for more “innovative and unexpected soft drink flavours, as well as the current trend for adult fairy tales in popular culture”.

Soft drinks group Britvic is up 2p at 690.5p despite worries about increased competition following news that rival Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) planned to merge with private Coke bottlers in Spain and Germany. Societe Generale raised its rating from hold to buy, and Shore Capital also issued a buy recommendation. Shore analyst Phil Carroll said:

Clearly, this is relevant to Britvic which in fairness we believe has been outperforming CCE in the UK in recent years so from CCE’s perspective improvement in performance is needed. Britvic’s outperformance of its main competitor continued to be evident in its recent third quarter trading statement where management stated the Pepsi portfolio continues to gain market share on a volume and value basis.

As to whether [the new merged group] can outperform Britvic in the future, only time will tell but based on the recent past, Britvic has shown how effective it is when it comes to its marketing, revenue management and innovation capabilities. Therefore, we are not overly concerned by the news at this stage and would certainly encourage investors to take advantage of any potential weakness in Britvic’s share price of the back of this deal announcement.
