20/7/2018 18:53 | Alliance News.. On the London Stock Exchange, British American Tobacco was among the large cap risers, closing up 2.5%, on a read-across from Philip Morris International, which has lowered 2018 guidance. The Marlboro cigarettes maker revised its outlook for annual reported earnings per share to a range of between USD5.02 to USD5.12, down from the prior range of USD5.25 to USD5.40 per share. The earnings were lowered mainly due to lower consumer demand of tobacco heated products in Japan. | philanderer
20/7/2018 16:31 | If it closes today's gap around £38.75, on Monday, I'm buying more. | andrewbaker
20/7/2018 14:54 | IF FDA wasn't tinkering nicotine, BATS would be the buy of the century. Personally I think trump and the FDA have a wink wink nudge nudge relationship, Big Tobacco is a big donor to republicans. No one kills the golden goose. I currently own 110 shares of BATS and 137 shares of IMB, it's more than enough exposure for me in tobacco. Try and stay diversified as well, since tobacco is prone to regulation. Though historically downturns in tobacco stocks have been immense buying opportunities. | this_time_its_different
20/7/2018 10:10 | Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund is now selling BATS on ethical grounds; so yet another getting out of a nice little earner: Arfur Daley wouldn't be so troubled by how it makes its dosh, and neither am I. It's got a gap to cover at £37.00, going back a tad, but I'm not waiting for that: today there is a gap at £38.65, so I'll wait for that to be covered, and get more. This is now so heavy a holding, but I can't turn it down. If gold dropped to say, $500/ounce would you refuse to buy??? This is gas (as in smoke/vapour as opposed to liquid) gold. Far better analysts than me say BATS should be around £52: as current prices it is a steal (but you can afford to let the price drop back a little, with all those saintly ethical sellers clearing out). | andrewbaker
20/7/2018 09:25 | BATS is still a strong buy below £40 and a buy below £45. | this_time_its_different
20/7/2018 09:22 | Market finally realising half the world smokes with little government regulation on a product that is highly addictive and costs 1p per cigarette to make. | this_time_its_different

19/7/2018 17:57 | In US corporate news, tobacco firm Philip Morris International lowered its fiscal 2018 reported earnings outlook. The revised outlook reflected the rightsizing of its existing IQOS heated tobacco device and consumable inventories as well as a shift in previously positive currency to a headwind for the full year. Philip Morris shares were down 5.2% in New York | philanderer
