I would be very happy to carry an id card, I think we should also tighten imigration policy.
Anyone without an id card gets a one way air ticket.
No more blackmarket labour, no more tax doging, no more international sponging off the state.

Can't wait :)

Mikey1000, I am flattered you started to pick on the suicide rate and six packs. How long did it take you to find that information from Lonely Planets guide to Europe? LOL.

And yes, every occational 10th of million citizen may be checked by the police. But I mean, UK doesn't really have a problem with immigrants, do you?

Get real man.

Prince William,

Your some kind of fool with a chip on his shoulder, or just another wind up merchant. Either way I have more important things to do than entertain the likes of yourself.

I won't be replying to anymore of your uninformed rubbish

Prince William,

Quote: "Secondly, what kind of stoneage nation is this, with NO PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS. In many European countries, they are assigned on birth."

So what is the NI number then? Do you know what that is? Probably not.

If you enjoy registering, and registering all at your own inconvenience and expense then may I suggest you go and live in Germany. That's the real benefit of all that extra tax.

If that is so efficient Jungle Jim, why do they not accept your Nat. Ins. No. as sufficient proof of your registered address. In the Scandinavian countries and Germany, the PID.NO is adequate.

Prince william we are all allocated a personal identification number at 16. It is called a national insurance number.

Knowing this government it will be another fifty years before they introduce an i.d. card. Either that or we will all be dead first.

Secondly, what kind of stoneage nation is this, with NO PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS. In many European countries, they are assigned on birth.

That takes away the administrative bottleneck when it comes to identifying you when signing contracts, subscribing to services etc. The Personal ID No. is connected to your registered address.

Somthing like an i.d. card would certainly dissuade benefit cheats. I expect benefit cheats and other assorted crooks are the same people as civil liberties organisations. I think we should monitor the moves of everybody and compile the data on a supercomputer. Those of us with nothing to hide have nothing to fear.

You're twisting my statement to your own advantage. This is not a issue of civil liberties and not. Maybe you UK guys should start dispose of your passports and driving licenses. Then you would be really really liberated, right??

This is a matter of facilitating indentification when entering age/security restricted areas. IT IS NEEDED, it was needed twenty years ago as well.

State ID's were rejected in the past in the UK because they were deemed an infringement on civil liberties. Generally the people didn't want them at that time, so they weren't introduced. That's what we in the UK call peoples choice. I think the caretakers of the predominantly socialist continental europe find that concept hard to understand.

Now if that's your idea of being behind, well then I'm glad we are.

therealrookie,
Absolutely right! They should have put him on a return flight as soon as he landed, or at the very least send the Sun tabloid trash news paper the bill.

The press are out of control and and doing more damage to this country, and it's reputation in the world more than incompetent politicians ever could.

Totally agree.
Look at Ronnie Biggs only came back when the money for his medical bill ran out, we should have left him out in his paradise broke and dying. I can only imagine what the family of the guard he clobbered feel like.

what has this got to do with shares/finance.

Why don't you people go to a chat room or something.

ADVFN why do you allow people to damage your company's reputation by exercising
no control on posters thread creation?

This is the most funny thing I've ever read. And you guys are proud to be British? In rest of Europe, the state endorsed I.D. card has been available for over ten years. Well, we're approaching 2002 and the almighty Britain is now gloriously announcing ... The ID Card... The invetion of the 80's... Talk about being behind.

As a matter of fact, my major holdings are on NADQ and DOW. Have quite large holdings on the U.S. markets.
