10/4/2012 11:18 | Due to shipping rates being hammered I am surprised to see the share price still holding up well... | haywards26
14/3/2012 17:38 | Ticking up nicely. Looks like it was a classic 'double-bottom' on the technical analysis front. 450p seems a logical target. Flow | go with the flow

04/3/2012 11:47 | Many news articles around on shipping rates and the the general decline across all areas, containers and oil.Excessive shipping capacity chasing fewer contracts. Struggling to see why BMS share price is still rising although the per and divi yield are still very reassuring. The business is very much split on revenue across three of the four divisions so some comfort there too. Nevertheless the bulk of the profit comes from the shipping services section so this year might be very tough. In some of the articles i've read recently the provision/supply seems fragmented and M&A possibilities seem to be suggested as very likely. Wonder if some moves of that nature here? Just a thought. Not sure whether to sell and take the profit, so tempted by the divi so i guess i'll hang on for results. The forward statement will be the breaker. Woody | woodcutter

21/1/2012 11:50 | Really interesting trade going on: Big buyer creates a short and so jumps the price up all week as MM's look to cover. Friday afternoon sees the quick guys cash in and go off for the week-end with their profits booked. Chart suggests (and I'm not a slavish chartist by any means) that if we don't hold well above 350 next week, we'll drift down to levels seen a while back. In a thinly traded stock, you'll need a second string buyer to help you along here. No reason why someone should help us out when they can think like this, too. So enjoy the mid-winter sunshine but it probably won't last. But spring comes to us all and what if ... SL haven't finished. They're pros. So may be they buy what they can then let the storm pass and buy again lower... And they tend to be longer term buyers esp in small caps. So they see value and might be back for more at lower levels. If you have time, do some homework and find out what their average holding size is in small caps (both £'s and % free float / market cap) and you might guess if they will come back. Me - I got a day job to do but I love this game! All IMO and DYOR etc. | onehandeconomist
20/1/2012 10:39 | Seems it's standard life raising the share price As expected it'll drop back a bit after such a sharp rise. Still might be worth waiting a while and topping up after next results. Woody | woodcutter
19/1/2012 21:47 | BMS can certainly move. ISA looking better by the day. | rogerbridge
19/1/2012 17:39 | Bid rumour eh - nice try Woody!!! Is this a classic 'double-bottom'? Sp close to short term major resistance point - let's see what happens. Flow | go with the flow
18/1/2012 17:11 | I only bought in a couple of days ago on the basis of good value and the dividend yield (I'm currently looking at a number of stocks with good dividend yields and also well covered) my guess is the share price can only be rising for the divi or that maybe there's a bid rumour. 17/1/2012 14:44 | Mid-price up 4% now. ADVFN belatedly up 2%. | aleman
17/1/2012 13:24 | Depends how you measure the price. BMS is up 1.3% according to other sites that use the bid/offer spread rather than a delayed last trade price on SETS like ADVFN. I regularl see MMS move the spread but ADVFN only reports a move later and sometimes not at all ot the other way, based on SETS | aleman

12/1/2012 12:43 | Indeed, you called this far better than I did despite being very tempted to take a nibble around 300p mark. Will keep this on my radar and should Mr Market be so kind as to offer me another opportunity I will take it. Currently engrossed with GKP :) | fangorn2
12/1/2012 10:35 | Arbuthnot target raised from 320p to 390p. | aleman

12/1/2012 09:47 | BMS Interim management statement out. "Braemar Shipping Services has seen increased activity in its shipbroking division in the past few months. The group says it has seen good levels of spot chartering business particularly in deep sea tankers and in capesize bulk carriers. The specialised tanker chartering desks are also performing well. The company also said it is making good progress in bringing its technical businesses together as a single unit, trading as Braemar Technical Services. It says there are already clear signs of much closer interaction within the division and when full integration is achieved, the engineering and surveying teams will be deployed more efficiently." Nice bounce this morning I see. Have to say I am surprised at the Shipbroking performance. | fangorn2 |
