Referendum may just cause some uncertainty as far as overseas buyers are concerned but results today were better than many expected.

Profit before tax of 20% reflects higher house purchase prices.

Seems like their performance has improved & 40p dividend should go down well with l/t holders.

Target of between 5000 & 6000 completions in 2016 is a little vague but understandable as UK economy is not growing faster.

Nice results. Particularly glad to see:-- increased dividend - improved roce trajectory - positive 2016 statement. Market may need to re-evaluate up here at some point I think (& hope)!Regards,Source.

Previous reaction to BVS trading update was dismal so lets hope their results are better than before. Want to see Company cutting back admin costs & training more builders, electricians plumbers etc. so it can meet demand for more houses in South of England.

Bovis looks to me like a good investment. They have
- net cash
- ten year landbank (5 years consented)
- a good yield for the building sector
- a final dividend of about 26p due to go XD next month
- a low price to book ratio for the sector

The price has fallen back from its highs (as has the whole sector) due mainly to fears that interest rates will rise and house prices weaken. I think rate rises will be limited and later than feared. Meanwhile we need more houses.

However I think the increase in completions will slow now, if only because of labour and material supply problems. I would like to see them stop expanding the landbank now - it's big enough IMHO.

I have a holding and may add soon. Any other views?

Source,

Fundamentals have little or nothing to do with the decline , but the decline may go on. money is coming off the table across all markets , and you can`t fight the market. We have seen the greed ; now you are seeing the fear.

Central bankers have not got a clue what to do. I watched Yellen answer questions yesterday:pitiful. The problems from 2008 have not gone away.

I am 40% liquid now , and will only buy back certain shares on further market falls , if they happen.

Erogenous,

Going off at a tangent a little, we as investors look for companies that are capable of growth , or sustaining a good dividend. There will always be some that grow, but in the bigger picture , with finite resources ,growth on out into the future is impossible. At some point, governments will need to learn to manage the shrinking, or we will all be treading on each other . Rather than wait till this situation is irrevocably thrust upon us , would it not be better to start shrinking the population : catch 22, ---government needs to maintain or grow the working population in order to maintain the tax take.---Serfdom is here and now: we are all simply sheep to be sheared.

In the meantime , as you say, people need to live somewhere. ---I live in a camper van and a caravan , and travel a lot. I am out of it.

All probably relevant points but more to the point Bovis looks like it's been heavily oversold (down 16% since Mid Jan). Seems undue to me and nothing to do with bovis fundamentals to me. Regards,Source.

Source,

It has been evident for some time that across the market profit is being taken where it can be taken. In nervous times this makes sense ,if only to balance losses elsewhere .

If we enter a recession, a distinct possibility, the " demand " for houses will drop. There is an argument which says that irresponsible lending has created a bubble in house prices. Government has added fuel with its silly " help to buy "schemes .They are arguably helping people to buy at the wrong price, and thereby propping up prices : no accident. Government should get its mucky fingers out of the market.

This seems another share that has lost touch with fundamentals (& reality!) recently. Do you believe it has been driven down a massive 15% or so since only mid January!Reading it's recent quite positive trading statement is reassuring (like AHT's too). Meanwhile all this market palaver has has no effect on Bovis's strong end markets or the UK's dire need for more houses. Regards,Source.
