One in this sector which hasn't quite joined the party is CGS. They produced a good set of results but the Chairman in his usual dour Midlands metal basher style drew attention to the fact that if the world situation turned dire, it wouldn't be good news for CGS. This seems to have been interpreted as a concern about the future of the company rather than a statement of the obvious. I've decided to hold on to them anyway !

DJ Bodycote Posts 68% Rise In Profit, Sees Further Growth

MACCLESFIELD (U.K.) Bodycote (LSE:BOY), the world's largest thermal processing services provider, today announces plans to accelerate growth of its Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) division with major strategic investments in North America.

Bodycote is adding capacity to its facilities in Camas, Washington and Andover, Massachusetts, including the addition of a new 'Giga-HIP' vessel. The investment in North American capacity will ensure that Bodycote continues to capture growth in the aerospace, defence and energy markets and will enable it to capitalise on the rapidly growing demand for HIP product fabrication business.

Bodycote has entered into contracts totalling over $20m in investment over the next 18 months. With the new 'Giga HIP' class of very large equipment, Bodycote strengthens its position as the world's leading network of HIP equipment with a 'fleet' of more than 50 units.

HIP is an industrial process, which combines very high temperature and pressure with inert gas to eliminate porosity in metal castings and consolidates powder metal into fully dense materials. Bodycote's HIP division incorporates two major HIP offerings: HIP Services and HIP Product Fabrication. HIP Services comprises processes such as densification of materials including metal castings and ceramics. HIP Product Fabrication brings together Bodycote's powder metallurgy near-net-shape (NNS) and HIP bonding capability.

Sorry about the delay in replying - been racing at Newbury !
Great fan of BOY. So many of these stocks - BOY,FENR, CGS etc - have really got their act together in recent years and went into this mini recession with healthy balance sheets and costs under control. They are in a great position to increase production quickly and profitably as demand picks up as marginal cost of (robotic) production is lower than it's ever been.

Another quality stock with greta fundamentals which, until recently, has been oversold and neglected by the market - yield pretty good at the price I bought at also !

Not sure if you're joking jadeticl or if the irony of valediction's comments have been completely lost on you?

I have no doubt that he, like me, is well aware of the sacrifices made by so many during WWII & in no way meant to belittle their memory in what was clearly just a bit of BB banter.

For the record, my grandad is also dead having been fortunate enough to survive WWII where he fought alongside Monty in the North African desert.

No offence intended, just trying to lighten the mood :-)

A very positive statement & much the same as many other companies recently - still trading strongly & in line with previously raised forecasts, despite the poor general market outlook.

Looks like we're going nowhere, though, until Italy sorts itself out.

Edt: or maybe not? :-)
