Dave, LGRA, for example, is leveraged 2x. So if one wants to risk leveraging, what's the advantage of AVT?

Just been called by a guy claiming to be from Butterfields and offering to pay £9 per share for my AVT shares. I said he could have them for 9p but he insisted £9.
Next step, was for me to disclose my bank details, how did I see that one coming . Hopefully he is now trying to put his phone where I suggested.

No point in political rantings AFTER the event (or is there). Well, the two marginals that I used to live in have both outed their Socialist overlords -so some degree of sanity still exists.
As Trinoc says 'lets this board return to its intended purpose' i.e. licking one's wounds over the AVT fiasco and bemoaning your losses.
Possibly, when B.Liar retires as the Premier he will do as other previous P.M.'s have done. Take a Directorship. You must all watch this event and, hopefully, follow him. He will, thus, emulate the activities of Mr Major (that noted Tory talent) who took a directorship at a company which then, fairly promptly, went belly up. But, of course, being a previous P.M. he had become 'one of the club' and has been elevated to a prominent position in a company controlled by that evil family 'The Bush's'. Just like the Kennedy's before them they know how to BUY favor !! Thus do the wheels keep turning in this favorite game of 'If I lick your ass, will you grease mine?'

Lets get back to something important...and, regrettably AVT is no longer important, it comes under the classification 'water under the bridge'. All you folks in that Never Never land called 'the UK' have something far more important coming up. Come May 5 you have to decide whether you continue to be ruled by the lying gang of thugs currently in power, with such stars as the globe trotting Blair - who leaves the 'store' to be looked after by Bully Boy Prescott and Gloomy Boy Brown- OR, alternatively, choose'The Prince of Darkness' Howard and his motley crew.
All you folk in key marginals and I'm sure you know who you are - not even the British electorate could be THAT simple - have the choice to make this a classic 'hung Parliament' by voting for the one party that will NEVER be elected, the Lib Dems. But they ARE important for they hold the key to be able to stop this madman Blair and hold off the flacid Howard. They can ensure that WHOEVER FORMS THE NEXT GOVERNMENT WILL BE POWERLESS. and thats what the UK needs for five years. TIME FOR THE ELECTORATE TO HOPEFULLY BELIEVE THAT THE POLITICAL PARTY THEY FAVOR CAN RESSUCITATE ITSELF AND BECOME RESPECTABLE AGAIN.
You all have my best wishes (but by no means my conviction) that you will make the right choice.

No need to bring yourself down to deehill's level now treborbob is there. His point is that in this country the deceipt starts at the top in Downing Street and runs right the way through the country, and certainly through big (and small) businesses. It happens in every country in the world (except in Africa where it happens ten fold!)but in the US they accept that it exists - we don't want to over here - and in my mind the proof of this as far as AVT is concerned is that the DTI won't bother themselves with this company and people like Soffe will be free to do it all over again.

By the way, you spelt my name wrong. Apologies accepted.

I agree with Trinoc that we should all pull together. We must accept that those of us who have lost our money, jobs or both in this fiasco are unlikely to get it/them back. However, if there has been any wrong-doing we all want to see those responsible held to account.

It is understandable that some of us are feeling a little raw so the odd careless remark is understandable and excusable. Foreigner has apologised for his inappropriate comments and I hope EJ will accept this. If we are to get anywhere we must encourage those with inside information on the goings on at AVT to continue to post. The most damning information is likely to come from present or former employees who for obvious reasons will wish to remain anonymous. Calling for them to reveal their identity could be counter productive. It is probably best to ignore the ramblings of anyone acting as an agent provocateur.

OK, so let's see if we can winkle out anything useful with which to build a substantive case. The speed with which the sale was achieved is indeed suspicious and my understanding is that KDL were on the scene well in advance of the company going into administration. Well-informed sources have indicated that a certain individual instructed that information be passed to KDL and that certain members of senior management were not to be informed of this. Now this may or may not be true or it may be totally legitimate but surely someone with first hand knowledge can put us straight.

I hear that Ann Soffe, mentioned in the article posted above by shortashare (disgraceful lady that she is!) and who was AVT's interim Finance Manager (ie she was looking after our interests (not), has been appointed Managing Director of Blue Towers Communications - Yes, this is the new Kenure company that AVT has become.

Smelly, yuck.

Any investor in this company a policeman?

Isn't it disgraceful - the link to the purchasing company refers to AVT as being a profitable business. How on earth can a private company run a business profitably - when quoted company bosses merely run it into the ground??
By the way, is it Greg Morgan or Andrew who resigned as director?
What is left of AVT - has it all been sold to the new company (for a pittance)

Although I only lost a few sobs on AVT (sold before the demise), I realise that my ongoing curiosity is akin to a by-stander at a crime scene. Come on chaps from AVT, what more scurrilous 'goings on' have there been?? Spill the beans...please!

When I spoke to Greg Morgan recently, he said that whilst development costs had been stopped on the Ghana project, it was the case that it could be rolled out as and when Ghana wanted it without any further cost.

What do people think of the administrators- are they likely to make a better job of running it? Is their brief to generate cash from operation to pay off the charge (presumably the old supplier?). Maybe they could generate a profit where all others failed!!

Is it possible that AVT went into administration - rather than liquidation- a pointer to the possibility that it could be a profitable business

Could Ghana yet materalise even with AVT in administration?
