April 19( Zambia Informer)-------The much awaited re-opening of the lead and zinc mine in Kabwe, under London Alternative Listed Market listed company, Berkeley Ltd., will be delayed than anticipated because evaluation is still underway by Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA). During a public meeting early March, 2016, the seventh public hearing to be held since the evaluations started to determine whether the mine should re-open or not, the owners, Enviro Processing Ltd., pledged to stake US$100,000 towards environmental protection in addition to an initial US$2.5 million in kick starting the mining operations. According to the company’s vision, EPL, the Alternative Market Listed miner, has staked a staggering US$2.5 million in setting up a lead and zinc plant in Kabwe to reactivate mining in the area. The financing will besides, used for procurement of steel and other plant equipment and machinery will go towards ensuring that environmental pollution are redressed through the use of the leaching and washing plant processes. This, according to the company, will assist safely mine the base metals and reduce pollution, which has afflicted many parts of Kabwe, which has over the years suffered from environmental pollution, chiefly in nearby areas including Makululu township, among others. However, ZEMA spokesperson Ireene Chipili, says, evaluations are still underway and an announcement will be made to the would be investors and other stakeholders. “We are not yet made a decision on the re-opening,” says Chipili. “However, we appreciate the delays and we hope to expedite without further delay” | fireball xl5 | |

30/3/2016 16:35 | I voiced my concerns publicly against the 10-1 consolidation at the AGM and prior giving good reason, but that's all water under the bridge now. it's sadly 50P for many, look at the long term chart, but lets focus on the BMR resource instead, and look forward to the first consistent production figures, (which however small from a pilot plant) should finally allow a valuation that is not based on fiction.
