A friend of mine has a small software co on the edge of Exeter and he says he is getting a lot of CVs with Blur on them. Rumour is they have cut Exeter staffing from about 60 to nearer 30 and may even quit the city altogether. As a holder I feel a prize berk for getting sucked in by all the hype.

Actually a bit of both. The previous run netted traders in excess of 100% gains in just a few weeks.
Trading around core holdings can significantly boost returns.

Seems the co is doing an investor road show yesterday and today.

Interestingly the major institutional shareholders seem to have sat tight and increased

J.O Hambro 11.07%
River and Mercantile 10%
Majedie Asset Management 8.46%
Octopus investments 3.32%
Investec 3.14%

Shares are for buying and selling.
Wise investors would have taken profits from 100p to 800p

Now they can buy back for almost 98% discount.

So which is it? Buy and hold for 5 years or trade and get a 98% discount? Which is the wiser choice?

The average holding of a stock should be 5 years so let's see what happens in the next couple. No rush, markets look ahead.

Apologies, posted the wrong details from the Japanese.

I was very unhappy with the last set of figs & the comments that went along with them, so I bit the bullets & took a huge, huge loss.

Just the odd share left, out of Blur for now.

Yeah but no but yeah but what about the business itself ?
I'm sure that has some bearing on the share price over the last couple of years.

Should see at least one of the three new non exec directors get a dog in the hunt by buying some shares.

It's all a matter of where you look & what you choose to believe.
The Japanese cloud I follow has been & still is bullish sine mid - September.
You pays your money etc.

I too am always looking for signals which half way help to remove blind guess work in forecasting but I do better than the following:

haydock 21 Sep'15 - 10:43 - 3345

Barchart looks very positive for Blur short term.
A much improved prospect all round.

....well actually that turned out to be 100% wrong!
there were subsequently 13 days of consecutive falling share price... since which there has been a partial recovery but no more than the usual dead cat ounce ie a Fiboncci ca 40 % retracement.

How does one explain that in such a case the theory seems to lead to worse than guess work?

.....by the way no personal attack intended.

I have a feeling all the bad news is now behind the co.Significantly strengthened the board with three appointments.Rapidly cliosing in on 10,000 projects listed.Should be back over 100p in the next 12 months.

"As a result of the updated Revenue Recognition policy and changes to recognition of revenue as set out in the full 2014 accounts, H1 2014 revenue and associated costs have been corrected to reflect the revised treatment. The impact on H1 2014 has been to reduce recognised revenue from $5.7m to $1.8m and EBITDA loss has been increased from $4.0M to $6.1M."

So $3.9m of the revenues were suspect? Well I never! Who'd have thunk it?

Cut the flannel and look at the cash burn - that is the only metric anyone should be interested in.
