27/2/2006 21:09 | From the interims...on RFID ----------- RFID The newly established RFID division has delivered on its initial promise. The Group has enjoyed strong demand for its RFID solutions and customer satisfaction with the efficiency and performance of our antennae has been consistently high. We have also made significant advances in completing our proprietary roll-to-roll machines for the mass-manufacture of RFID tags. Importantly, from a logistical and cost perspective, the manufacturing process is now fully integrated to enable the antennae to be created and incorporated in the tags as a single process. As to commercializing our RFID efforts, we have Joint RFID Tag Development Initiatives with each of Innovision PLC., RSI ID, ITN Energy Systems Inc., and Transcore Inc.. We expect to have the first RFID tag machine available for sale to our first RFID customer in the first quarter of next year. This product will constitute a turnkey manufacturing solution which will enable our customers to purchase RFID machines for mass-production of RFID tags within their own facilities. Such an offering is obviously commercially compelling in an environment where the key driver to market penetration is cost and volume production. We continue to remain confident that our solutions are able to provide the cheapest and consistently best quality antennae and tags from existing and currently anticipated technologies. We are now in advanced discussions with a number of customers targeted for the purchase of our RFID machines and will report on further progress in due course. | britishbear
27/2/2006 20:40 | Good to see some press. For my records as much as anything I suspect that, reading between the lines, this machine is the first of possibly many. It means the machine passed rigorous testing and is a mass production machine - no more protypes and jam tomorrow - this is jam today. At something £500,000 a pop that fact one has been sold may mean orders for other machines might come thick and fast from manufactures that want to keep up. The royalty payments may also add up given RFID's are produced in the millions. Very good potential and still undervalued imo. It will be interesting to see if we get a broker upgrade or research note to follow this new. -------------------- Following a rigorous assessment process, Mu-Gahut decided to purchase the first machine for $800,000 in order to secure an immediate production capacity for one of the American Indian Companies it is currently in negotiation with. Mu-Gahut management has stated that the agreement with Block Shield will enable them to cover short, medium and long term requirements in three key areas: 1. By procuring initial manufacturing capacity of RFID antennas based on Block Shield's innovative process that best fits the purpose of equipping suitable Native American companies 2. By acquiring technical and industrial know-how from a proven source capable of supporting Native American manufacturers throughout the learning curve associated with the transfer of technological and industrial know-how 3. By establishing a long standing partnership with a leading innovator of RFID technical and industrial solutions | britishbear
27/2/2006 20:34 | From london evening standard;- Shares in Block Shield took on nearly 17%, adding 23p to 159½p after the group announced the sale of its first RFID manufacturing machine to Mu-Gahut for $800,000. Mu-Gahut is a 100% Native American-owned technology marketing company. | dafad
27/2/2006 14:18 | Heading for the fastest riser leader boards - 18% and still moving. The illiquidity of this stock is not to be understated hence large rise on low volume. Research is also tricky which means a slow burn effect - google on WaveZero is the only way of getting some "on the ground" information on BLS. | britishbear
27/2/2006 08:35 | DAFAD - agreed. The beauty is that BLS are not competing directly with RFID manufactures (a competitive business) but are supply essential patented kit that all RFID manufacturers need. Seems a simple play on RFID generally and does not require one to pick the winner when there may be many many losers. This is one of the certainty buy and holds. £1.80 is realistic short term I believe. | britishbear
27/2/2006 08:30 | BB Don't think many people have realised the potential of this co,especially with the electo shielding and Rfid applications,as you say when more people cotton on to the fact 180-200 will be reached pretty sharpish | dafad
27/2/2006 08:25 | Excellent start to the day. This is an illiquid stock that can really motor. Have expected new highs for a while now and here we are - this is an underrated stock still off the radar of most small investors. This may be changing. | britishbear
27/2/2006 07:05 | This co has enormous potential!! Sale of First RFID Manufacturing Machine Embargoed Release: 07:00hrs Monday 27th February 2006 Block Shield Corporation Plc (`Block Shield' or `the Company') Sale of First RFID Manufacturing Machine and Participation in US Initiative to Expand the Industrial Capabilities of Native American Tribal Organisations Block Shield Corporation Plc, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Mu-Gahut LLC as a key supplier of capital items, technical support and mass-production know-how for their major joint initiative - in association with the US Federal Department's General Services Administration ('GSA') - to elevate the industrial and technical capabilities of Native American Tribes with the aim of enhancing social equality and economic status through increased profitable economic growth and empowerment. Consequently the Company is pleased to announce the sale of its first mass production RFID antenna machine for US$800,000 under an extensive agreement that includes options for further future machine sales and a range of comprehensive licenses for ongoing technical support from Block Shield and its wholly owned subsidiary, WaveZero. Pier Antoniucci, CEO, commented: "Block Shield's inclusion in this initiative is a very important validation of our business model for the mass deployment of RFID component production. It is widely known that the single largest buyer of RFID systems in the US is the Federal Government and through the GSA they are provided with a mechanism of preferential procurement from Native American Tribes who enjoy various advantageous economic provisions including unlimited government set-asides and various favourable fiscal structures. I firmly believe that our association with this initiative gives us an invaluable opportunity to benefit from the impending escalation in demand for RFID production capacity from both Governmental and private sectors. I very much look forward to reporting on our progress within this initiative in due course." GSA, Mu-Gahut and RFID Economic Empowerment Initiative General Services Administration ('GSA') The GSA is a US Federal entity whose mission is to provide goods and services for other Federal Agencies. It is in effect a central buying and contracting organization that is involved with best value acquisitions for work place facilities, expert solutions, and management policies. It consists of the Federal Supply Service (FSS), Federal Technology Service (FTS), Public Buildings Service (PBS), the Office of Governmental Policy (OGP), various staff and 11 Regional Offices. GSA is simultaneously a government full-service department store, a landlord and a purchasing authority. In 2005 the GSA's budget was in excess of $66 billion, equating to 25% of all Federal procurement dollars. Through GSA, the US Government provides a method of preferential procurement from Native American companies as well as a range of incentives for the private sector to utilize Tribal businesses as a primary source for outsourcing or subcontracting. These generous incentives are a powerful means of promoting the economic emancipation of the Tribal Nations community. The use of these special economic provisions also provides American industry with a very logical, cost-effective and competitive alternative to offshore outsourcing. Some of the beneficial trade-offs derived from the onshore versus offshore outsourcing model include total cycle cost reduction, greater flexibility in supply chain reaction time, production of sensitive products in secure facilities, ease of transportation and logistics, etc. as well as no customs, language or time zone barriers and the elimination of bureaucratic entanglement. There is also the not inconsequential matter of improved public relations and image enhancement that comes from utilizing Native American businesses. Mu-Gahut LLC Mu-Gahut LLC is a 100% Native American owned technology marketing company. It specializes in technology transfer in emerging and/or high growth areas. Founded by Native Americans with successful entrepreneurial histories, it is chartered to elevate the industrial and technological capabilities of American Indian Tribes in pursuit of the enhanced social equality that results from profitable economic growth. Mu-Gahut's role is to both identify promising technology for Native American manufacturing and to facilitate the marketing of Native American produced technology and products. It targets the US Government and its agencies that have preferential acquisition programs directed to and set-aside for Native American manufacturers. Concurrently, it solicits US corporations which can enjoy considerable economic and fiscal benefits from business transacted with Native American owned corporations. In addition, Mu-Gahut's mission includes identifying and promoting emerging opportunities for manufacture of advanced high-profit technology by its Tribal clientele. To achieve this, one of Mu-Gahut's primary initiatives is the formation of a consortium of both "mainstream" and Native American companies that at one or more levels has a vested interest in the manufacture and utilization of RFID products. RFID component manufacturing fulfils this mission due to it is characterized rapid expansion of high value technical content and escalating demand for sources of low-cost, high-volume production. The type of manufacturing that constitutes the core competitiveness of Block Shield's unique proprietary manufacturing systems. Mu-Gahut is currently working very closely with GSA's Native American Business Centre on an agenda to coalesce the growing willingness of Native American business into an action plan to take better advantage of often underutilized Government programs and use the remarkable institutionalized fiscal opportunities it provides. RFID Economic Empowerment Initiative and the Selection of Block Shield as a Key Partner As mentioned above, one of the key objectives of Mu-Gahut is to elevate the industrial and technological capabilities of American Indian Tribes. To achieve this Mu-Gahut, working in conjunction with the GSA, has identified a substantial and growing level of interest from many of the Native American Tribal organizations in becoming Contract Manufacturers of RFID antennas and tags. This is primarily based on the growing demand of the US Government, considered the largest US buyer of RFID systems, and of Government suppliers who are both consumers and suppliers of RFID systems. Furthermore, when considering this increasing interest from the Tribes and the increasing demand for RFID component pieces, Mu-Gahut, identified that to date, the only limitation to the procurement from Native American sources of mass produced RFID components is the relatively limited volume and marginal range of high technology production capability. By combining the talents and resources of their respective organizations, Block Shield, WaveZero and Mu-Gahut intend to permanently alter this factor of the economic equation that has served to enhance Tribal economies by transferring their cutting-edge technologies and business development skills into corporate settings owned, controlled and benefiting Native America. Once this compelling and mutually beneficial structure had been identified, Mu-Gahut and pre-qualified Native American manufacturers visited WaveZero during December 2005 and January 2006 to view the initial production line of the RFID machines in the last stages of completion. Following a rigorous assessment process, Mu-Gahut decided to purchase the first machine for $800,000 in order to secure an immediate production capacity for one of the American Indian Companies it is currently in negotiation with. Mu-Gahut management has stated that the agreement with Block Shield will enable them to cover short, medium and long term requirements in three key areas: 1. 24/1/2006 16:03 | Good steady progess - the last RNS is the one to read for inspiration. Still expecting new highs in the near term | britishbear
19/1/2006 13:01 | About time - always wondered why this fell after such good news. Something brewing I suspect as it does not take much volume to shift this share. Still looking to reach new highs short term | britishbear
12/1/2006 07:25 | I agree that charts are notoriously unreliable for small caps. The longterm trend is still upwards, however I don't like the fact that we have broken the 120 support level. | fieldbeans
12/1/2006 00:50 | Chart is hard to call - need to call in an expert but there is an argument that it is at the bottom of a long term channel and will break up again soon. Hmmm - could be a buy on rumour, sell on fact effect with the previous announcement. | britishbear
11/1/2006 16:39 | Looks like the deal is not enough to break the current downtrend. I fear that chart is not looking too healthy. | fieldbeans
09/1/2006 10:13 | Just topped up with a few. May not go any higher but this is an excellent vote of confidence from some big players. Should make other contracts easier to get - IMB and largest medical company working with them using their patented technology. RFID is also not going away and should break through soon to the mainstream soon. Looking good | britishbear
09/1/2006 10:08 | A tie up with IBM is always nice - should go higher as this sinks in. Got to be quick to get in at this price - $2 million extra for 2006 is large relative to the size of the company and the deal goes on for 2 more years. Now is the time to buy - new highs? Edit - A nice little write up in todays independent basically talking about todays deal - impressive how they got it out so quick and even mention the $2million. | britishbear
09/1/2006 08:29 | Good to see a big name attached. Hopefully the start of many such contracts. | fieldbeans
09/1/2006 07:21 | EMC Division Volume Order Embargoed Release: 07:00hrs Monday 9th January 2006 Block Shield Corporation PLC ("Block Shield" or "the Company") Medical Devices Collaboration and Volume Production Contract Block Shield Corporation PLC (BLS.L), a leading supplier of innovative Electro Magnetic Shielding and RFID products and solutions for radio frequency emissions, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the supplier of shielding solutions for a new line of wireless medical devices to be released by one of the world's leading medical equipment manufacturers, St Jude Medical (`St. Jude'). In a collaborative project being managed by IBM and involving other leading contract manufacturers of electronic equipment, Sanmina-SCI and Future Logics as providers of the equipment parts. Block Shield is providing the Electromagnetic Compatibility (`EMC') solutions for the enclosures to be incorporated in the equipment. Block Shield has already successfully completed the preproduction runs contracted to WaveZero, Inc. (WaveZero), it's wholly owned subsidiary in its facilities in Sugar Grove, Illinois, and will shortly commence initial volume productions of the bespoke EMC shielding to be utilized in the enclosures. The preproduction phase was devoted to fine tuning the different processes involved in the collaboration between the parties. Whilst actual business is dependent on ramp up and shipment rates, IBM expects the potential value of business for Block Shield in 2006 to exceed $2,000,000. This volume of business is expected to continue for at least another two years, albeit at gradually diminishing yearly rates, dependent on the commercial life of the equipment. Dr. Pier Antoniucci, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: "In this project, we are employing our proprietary technology of vacuum deposition of metal on polymers. Importantly, we believe that our participation in this collaboration was secured because we are the only group who could meet the stringent EMC needs of the equipment. These require shielding to operate in an onerous environment of cleanliness and with an accuracy which cannot be addressed by more mature shielding technologies such as conductive painting or metal taping."
