Am I correct in saying the fund managers have qualified for some performance fee due to performance of the share price!!

everyone wants to buy at the lowest. but it's just impossible. so when this's gone so low like we saw recently, just top it up. for me this is a sort of 20-30 year investment. i set up a monthly saving plan with blackrock and top up whenever the market lows. my wife also has a pension with uss which is the largest investor here. i'm not concerned or worried about short term noises. they even creat opportunities. oil is going back to 150+ level soon. no one wants to sell oil at this price where dollar is increasingly useless. so bright future for alt energy.

Let the bubble commence and enjoy the ride.

This is a well managed and diversified fund in alternative energy which has traded within 1-2% of the NAV until very recently and when the market settles down should do so again. The last two days have provided the opportunity to buy at a discount of 10-15% and I bought for long term portfolio. They traded at a discount after 9/11 when many of the investments and alternative energy were at an early stage. DYOR.

rainydays,

Interesting to hear some thoughts which mirror my own.

Green energy could be the next bubble - I agree, it has all the ingredients.

If members of the general public knew how badly flawed and unsustainable the current banking system is, they might think twice before acting to save it.

I have started a new thread for people to learn and then comment about the reality of the global banking system:

Thanks Gsands. Not uncommon for stocks to fall if currency is appreciating. Earnings, exports interest rates etc.

Praipus,

Cable = USD vs GBP

As someone on this thread mentioned - the rise in the value of the dollar is enhancing the NAV of BRNE and hiding the dire performance of some of the constituents such as CLE and AMSC.

Gsands "cable on the move"? Do you mean CW.L?

Also agree extreme caution required suspect a lot more downside and a lot more jobs to go yet. Unpleasant times. Theory also says that in a contracting economy Utilities should do well.

rainydays I've noticed Jupiter and Venus in the night sky to the south does that have any bearing on these volatile crash like times?

I see AMSC and CLE are still falling steeply.
And with cable on the move, it's hard to determine the overall effect on NAV.
I'm staying out for the time being.

Praipus,

Yes - but still need to see how many dividends are going to be cut/cancelled over the next 12 months as the economic situation worsens.

I have been buying plenty of MAY these last two days. Currently yields 9% and that's after they halved the divi to keep some cash in store for share buy backs or other shareholder enhancing measures.

BoE should start to reduce rates soon. I expect 3-3.5% by this time next year.

Gsands FTSE ALL share is now yeilding more than the the 10 year gilt (T18) which is 4.75%, so time to buy....in theory.

Thanks watwungyi I guess its typical of a new technology. But makes me think that REH's CETO technology (using wave energy) is much more likely to get universal acceptance.
