I'm in, there is talk of alternative energy becoming the next 'bubble' area.

This chart is looking rather bullish. Nice tight consolidation after a big move up suggests there is more upside to come:

Since I am still very bullish on the prospects for the sector, I may be tempted to wait till the subscription shares are being traded, then sell some ordinaries and buy subscription shares in the market, thereby gaining a high gearing.

This makes a lot of sense. It's important to note the subscription price is based on the NAV on the 14th July not the share price If you are buying in the market to increase the number of subs you receive you are effectively paying for them if you buy them at a discount to NAV. If you think the aftermarket price of the subs will be less than one fifth the current discount to NAV (plus spread, potential share price fall and dealing costs) it's better value to buy them in the market afterwards. The only question is one of liquidity. How tradable will the Subs be ??. If markets continue to wobble and go nowhere over the summer it may be possible to pick up a decent sized position over the summer at a pretty good price.

I'm going to give it a few days before I decide which route to go. Whichever route, I am certainly going to try and build up a big position in the Subs.

RD,

It looks like the summer sell off is under way. I have posted some views over here:

RD,

Are you going to increase your holdings of normal stock, so as to position yourself for a larger entitlement of subs. shares?

This will probably cause a drag on the share price as quaifying shareholders take up their entitlement and then look to sell them in the open market for a quick profit.

Mentioned By Merryn Somerset Webb in the editorial of this week's Money Week ."....it makes sense to have a reasonable long -term holding in new energy.I'm tempted to do so via th Blackrock New Energy Investment Trust (LSE :BRNE )".

This could auger a top to this recent stock market rally. We shall see.

Unsustainable tertiary trend, probably now ended by a bearish engulfing candle.

It looks like shorting cable at 1.6411 was a good move. Should move down from here.

If cable can get through 1.60 and stay there, then I reckon the next stop is 1.74:

RD,

Interesting points.
I think quite a few of us are expecting this market to pull back considerably over the summer:

The NDX (Nasdaq 100) which has been leading the rally over in the US could be showing signs of weakness here:

RD,

Myself likewise. I had a trading position here which I cashed in at 43p a few days ago, netting a 16% profit and a total of 40% on my trading account so far this year..

That will do for me now until this market has corrected - I'm guessing it will over the summer.

PS. Before someone reads this as looking like a very nice trading performance - I must balance my post by also pointing out that my investment portfolio has been absolutely hammered :-(
