28/5/2001 19:29 | bj444 Does your test sms from the web site work. | 8 ball
28/5/2001 19:03 | Crooke I have configured my ADVFN alert to send it to my email address at Vizzavi then send it to my mobile free. I am not sure whether Vizzavi allow free sms outside the vodaphone network though, you will have to ask, although there must be others. Note ADVFN only send an alert indicating which share alert has been triggered and the time, there is no other information. The Email to sms companies mentioned on ADVFN seem to either charge or don't provide this service anymore. bj Tom at ADVFN recently told me that "We are currently conducting tests intodirect SMS, but I am not aware of the final application for that" | cassiopeia
28/5/2001 18:26 | Doing tests to see if my current problem is at Virgin. Seems no problem at MSA ; alerts were going OK to some users. | bj444
28/5/2001 17:58 | Crooke: ADVFN alerts cannot send SMSs, they ONLY do emails, so you have the extra hassle of signing on at uboot or Vizzavi etc to get emails converted to SMS. I'm probably out of date on the best site to use. I've moaned about uboot and Genie in the past, tho' they might have improved. It has always been a major mystery why ADVFN dont send SMS. They were 'thinking' about it. | bj444
28/5/2001 09:21 | Not sure if I got anything Friday except first thing but at lunchtime I changed the alert thresholds. Does anyone know how to set your mobile phone no for the advfn alerts as I just cannot find it? | crooke
25/5/2001 19:55 | b14 : to get alerts for RNS go to Dil | dil
25/5/2001 19:33 | I agree, I'd like to specify 1% for particular stocks and something larger like 3% for others. | bj444
25/5/2001 18:42 | Fine again today. Would be better if i could set re-alert percentages for each individual stocks, or by price change instead. Any ideas bj444 | 8 ball
25/5/2001 17:59 | Yes I got 2, (Orange) | fanta
25/5/2001 16:51 | I am totally without share alerts , having become dependent on MSA alerts now. Through Virgin network. Yet 8ball says he's getting them OK. ( through Vodafone). If you have received alerts today (FRIDAY) from MyShareAlert.com, (or if they've failed), please indicate here which network you are on. Interesting to see who's getting joy and who isnt ; am I alone ? | bj444
25/5/2001 14:26 | Cassi - dead right, MSA message is much more helpful than ADVFN message. It seems that MSA prices over £1 give whole pence only; whereas I have had 1/2 and 1/4 when prices are below 100 e.g. 70.25 pence. ( But it seems to be rounded to pennies on the Activity list ) (On Trium , I agree, alerts need vol control) My alerts are still dead; yet 8ball has success on Vodafone ; so my problem is at Virgin/One2One (???) 8ball - No idea of cost in future. Try emailing MSA (see their link at their site) | bj444
25/5/2001 14:00 | @ work. I have my mobile on pager and thus vibrates when an sms comes through. I have also personalised "pager" such that it doesn't beep but it may be set up as default.must go. Worked fine all week i thought but perhaps not today. | crooke
25/5/2001 11:52 | Does anyone know a way to get a alert telling you that a RNS has been released? | b14
25/5/2001 09:24 | bj Is there a way of turning the sound up on the sms messaging alert on your Trium, its possible to adjust the voice call sound and alarm levels, but I find it difficult to hear the sms message alert? Point I was making on previous message was that the location was the same so this was a direct comparison between the two alert systems. It would be better though if ADVFN actually sent a meaningful message as on the mysharealert system, another problem with mysharealert is that it only accepts figures to a whole number. | cassiopeia
24/5/2001 22:43 | bj444 Worked fine for me today, on vodaphone. Want do you expect the cost to be in the future. | 8 ball
24/5/2001 22:39 | TODAY - I had zero beeps. Nowt at all. Something's wrong , I should have had dozens as usual; the activities page gives list of 'successes' which didnt come!!! Cassi - I find the reception you get depends crucially on the network coverage where you are. BT is pretty good in country areas; Virgin uses One2One network, not so good coverage. My Trium Mars is good for hill walks because I have it on BT Cellnet. Nokia is nicer phone to use; I have it on Virgin which is friendly but less widespread coverage, but you get to know which hills/woods you can go to. (Get to know where the masts are.) | bj444
24/5/2001 20:12 | Upper alert was set on ROR at 333p from opening today. The ADVFN/VIZZAVI combination performed well on this occassion, providing alert at 12:05:11 on my mobile (12:04 from ADVFN), not bad in the middle of the New Forest (well pub in the New Forest actually). Mysharealert failed dismally providing alert at 14:08. If you look at the intraday graph showing ROR up more than 5% today (Sorry forgot how to insert them) you will see the importance of an up to the minute alert system. | cassiopeia
24/5/2001 12:53 | I've signed up to try it. | dil
24/5/2001 12:20 | Great results still, claims direct bleeped all day. Wrong direction like, no worrys. IT'S STILL FREE......... | 8 ball
23/5/2001 23:35 | Temporary problem with site or browser crashing, no major problems entering prices since. How does the Trium compare with the Nokia for reception? not sure whether its the phone or the area which has poor reception. | cassiopeia
23/5/2001 21:57 | BigWig - great to hear your experience, I was beginning to feel this thread was ignored by most people ! Cassi - the Trium is light, goes nicely in upper pocket, not far from the ears ! (I have TriumMars, on BT Cellnet, for WAP; and Nokia 5146 on Virgin for SMSs. You'll find erasing several SMSs on Trium is tedious; easier on Nokia. What was the cause of your MSA editing problem ? | bj444
23/5/2001 20:37 | In general I am getting the ADFVN alerts before the mysharealert ones although it is difficult to compare because mysharealert rounds the price off so both systems are providing alerts at slightly different times. The main problem I have is hearing the blasted beep from my mobile unless I am right next to it. My Trium mars mobile does not seem to have an volume adjuster for the SMS messages only the main phone, and alarm clock. Going to the New Forest tomorrow so big test, might try WAP if i can fiure out how it works (see other thread!) | cassiopeia |
