Anyone else following this one? Based on last year's timings (not guaranteed to be repeated) the results are likely to be out next week. Where is this going? Wind-up, carry on as is, new strategy or reverse takeover?

The Vandyk family continue to raise their stake. Why? Is this a bargain? Two options - liquidation or a reverse takeover. What's the view?

All very quiet on this BB. Results probably 6-8 weeks off. Can see some excitement on these before Christmas, maybe triggered by a change in strategy or a reverse takeover. Any views?

Well I hope Bionex do better than Bioprojects (Jim Slater) which is getting nowhere. The spread on BNX is terrible.

Is something going on behind the scenes on this one? It is a quite attractive cash shell at the moment, with a few investments thrown in. Still think that Edward Vandyk wouldn't have bought a shedload if there wasn't a plan for this company.

don't know what has prompted this. Still spread makes it uneconomical. same old problem. they need to consolidate the shares to get the spread down.

This share purchase is a buy signal imo. Who owned the shares in Newbourne was a bit of a mystery. Newbourne funded Bionex by £500k pre-IPO at 3p. They have therefore crystallized a fairly heavy loss as they have sold out at 1.25p. Edward Vandyk (and his wife) seems to me to have got things about right - he sold a large proportion of his 5.2m shares shortly after the company's IPO and has now bought a much more sizeable stake at well below net asset value. The company is a much more attractive proposition now than it was a year ago (i.e. the CEO has left and they have liquidated most or all of their investment in Ark). The facts - this company c.£3m of liquid assets and minimal running costs. It is quite an attractive vehicle and that is why the Vandyks have started building a sizeable stake. I've added to my holding following this news. Bit of a gamble, but I think Edward Vandyk may have got some interesting ideas for this shell.

Bionex was spun out of Mountcashel and they still share same premises and run very closely together. The fact that S. V. has purchased these shares should be good news, although do not know who owned Newbourne.

Susan Vandyk is the wife of Edward Vandyk, CEO of Abingdon Capital.

Abingdon Capital is an integrated financial services company offering corporate finance, corporate stockbroking, private equity and hedge fund management services. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Corporate Synergy, is an advisory and institutional stockbroker that focuses on small companies. The company also owns about 25% of Mountcashel, a hedge fund management company.

Fur, I assume you are referring to Susan Vandyk who now has a notifiable
interest in 19,916,667 Ordinary shares, representing 12.61% of the Company's issued share capital. I don't know who she is, but she bought 6 million shares a few days ago, so she is certainly showing interest in the company.

The 16.6m sold earlier at 1.25p was obviously the Newbourne Plc shares - it would seem that most, but not all, of these shares have gone to Ms Vandyk.

Twix, I am thinking about buying - just making sure they don't get any cheaper first.

yes guys, looks ok for me, i will also be buying on any set back. but as stated the cash held will probably underpin the price. definately one to keep an eye on.

Agreed Simon, I was expecting a slightly higher NAV. I hope you are right about the price drifting back and if it does, I will certainly buy. However, with so much of the assets in cash the price may stay higher. Do you know if Bionex are in play for a takeover - it could be a route to easy money for a company in urgent need of cash. Durlacher did something like this a year or so back.

Results just out. Looks like £500k invested in the Mountcashel Hedge Fund that is linked to Abingdon Capital. NAV only 2.3p, so looking a tad pricey after the rise today imho. Looks interesting if it drops back to 1p at some point though. Results were disappointing - another investment w/d and a reasonably sizeable tax liability. Admin expenses are probably higher due to compensation to the CE0 in the period.

Encouraging results today. As per the RNS.
