Bioganix Plc announces that it was informed on 2 April 2007 that on 30 March
2007 Nick Helme (Managing Director) and his wife sold 3,500 and 17,500 ordinary
shares in the Company respectively at a price of 175p per share. On the same
date Mr Helme's and his wife's personal pension schemes purchased 3,500 and
17,500 ordinary shares in the Company respectively at a price of 175p per share.
There has therefore been no change in the beneficial share interests of either
Mr Helme or his wife.

The Stern report is highlighting the strong possibility of green taxes, one of which is landfill tax. If the tax goes from £21 per tonne to £78 per tonne in 2013 much of this should come through to Bioganix bottom line. If half the throughput of each primary vessel (i.e. 6000 tonnes a year) benefits from an uplift of an extra £40 per tonne because of the hike in landfill tax this represents £240,000 per vessel per year. I believe that Bioganix is planning to have eight vessels by the end of next year with more coming on stream each year.

I can see this whole 'green waste -> compost' sector taking off, around the UK in 2007.
Why?

Well, because of EU legislation
The UK has to reduce the flow of waste to landfill sites, or face stiff EU fines (LATS)

eg down at Bournemouth

LATS
The council will decide how much waste it sends to the New Earth plant each year, depending on its obligations under Defra's Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme (LATS). But of the material sent to the plant, the contract stipulates a minimum diversion rate of 70% will be achieved.

Roy Osborough, strategic waste manager for Bournemouth, explained: "It's a gradual process we will roll out over the next two years as the site increases capacity. We will probably be sending upwards of 5,000 tonnes a year to MBT to begin with, dependent on our requirements for LATS diversion."

Independent tests carried out this summer at the Poole plant suggested diversion rates of over 80% were possible (see letsrecycle.com story). Bournemouth has now received advice from the Environment Agency on how the plant will contribute towards LATS targets.

Under LATS, Bournemouth must reduce its landfilling of biodegradable municipal waste from 59,708 tonnes in 2005/06 to 42,850 tonnes by 2010 and just 28,541 tonnes by 2013.

Mr Osborough said: "We are concentrating on reducing our dependence on landfill, which is primarily why we chose New Earth – it is a local company, six miles away, with state-of-the-art facilities and enormous potential for growth."

Bioganix plans £4m expansion – but not in county

The company is planning to build a waste-to-compost plant costing up to £4 million in another county in the region.

"Plans are at a very advanced stage," said managing director Nick Helme, "We can't be too specific about the location just yet, except to say we are in discussion with a couple of local authorities about green waste.

"This plant will be bigger than the £3 million plant we developed at Parham for Suffolk County Council.

"We are looking at a dozen different opportunities and plans around the country. Clearly, there is a big demand - we are going to have quite a workload in front of us in the next few years.

"People are buying our shares, it's all very exciting."

results for the six months ended 30th June 2006.

OVERVIEW

*Successful flotation on AIM resulting in the raising of #2.52 million
(net of expenses) and considerable strengthening of the Balance Sheet.
*Business trading profitably during a period of significant expansion.
*First phase of Suffolk plant fully operational with second phase due to
be completed by the end of the year.
*Received in cash #1 million contribution from Suffolk County Council
towards the capital cost of the Parham plant.

Just visited the site at Parham - it'll take a while to get the whiff out of my shirt! Impressive stuff, their market niche is products require State Veterinary approval as there is competition growing for general council green waste processing (IMHO) as this can be composted open air. The benefit they have is the secondary pasteurisation barrels that steam the product at 70 degrees to meet requirements.

Looks well done and the end product appears to be a superior compost.

Placing of 2,541,667 Ordinary Shares at 120p per share

Bioganix plc ("Bioganix" or "the Company"), the owner and operator of in-vessel
composting technology, commences trading on AIM today. On Admission the Company
has raised #3,050,000 through a placing of 2,541,667 ordinary shares at 120p per
share undertaken by Rowan Dartington & Co, the Company's nominated adviser and broker.

Bioganix treats controlled wastes, notably those governed by the 'Animal
By-Products Regulations', to produce a nutrient rich compost that is used
principally as an agricultural fertilizer replacement. Waste materials
processed by Bioganix include food processing by-products, retail food wastes,
local authority organic wastes and agricultural by-products.

The directors believe that the increasing costs of disposal via landfill and
environmental regulations governing the waste management industry present
significant growth opportunities for Bioganix.

The net proceeds of the Placing will be used to expand the processing capacity
of the Bioganix group and to provide working capital.
