I've owned this stock for a number of years and like the way the company is managed. A lot of the loss in value has been due to past business practices and been adversely affected by Obama's stance against punishing businesses for any misdemeanour. With Trump coming on board that may help them. Mellon has been in this one for a while and benefited from the special dividend when they sold the European business so is in this for effectively nothing. He had never recommended the stock vocally in such a manner since he purchased it a number of years back. He has a representative on the board so will know in detail how the company is developing so if he is so bullish on them I am inclined to believe he has faith in management and that the WiFi business is developing strongly. That is in my opinion and I do not want to sway anyone here but will continue to be a holder at these levels that look very attractive given cash holdings, profitability and no debt.

If you look at his holdings at www.burnbrae.com they are nearly all dogs...not the sign of a successful investor. As I say, I think the PR machine is better than reality! He is an interesting chap though and he no doubt has some cash!

if his wealth is as claimed, then his stake here, and the company as a whole, is a very small proportion to be making such a significant claim for 2017

I think if you look at the pattern with this one there have been lots of extraneous developments impacting the business and price. These go away and it may look very good.

Jim's been here a long time, not his best investment and maybe he is trying to push up the price

having said that he prides on getting his calls correct, i guess a conflict of interest though as an investor if the investment has gone wrong which is apparent here

Hmm - is he really worth that much? Everything he owns on the stock market is a real dog when I looked a year or so back. Think he made a lot of money at some point in the "go go" years (when he was heavily exposed to the Far East and miners), but not sure I can see anything has gone well for him in the last decade. He's an interesting guy, but he's no Warren Buffet in any shape or form!

He is worth £850mn apparently and called the UK Warren Buffet. Evil Knievel also commented on value here in September.

Interesting comment by him. He obviously sees some value here. Not sure I would trust him on delivering shareholder value though.
