13/10/2004 07:50 | Bigface, kingdwg. Following the trading statement what are your thoughts. king tell me are you still in EGG, bought some yesterday, this French thing has to clear up and then up north we think. Keep Crowing | old crow
12/10/2004 18:34 | Thats good news Kingdwg - what smart timing this may be. Hear from you in the morning | bigface
12/10/2004 17:26 | Fidelity just announced an increase of 3.1 million since the last filing. | kingdwg
12/10/2004 08:45 | Note that Bauger could have waited until the trading statement before making the first indicative bid - I think he's serious but making sure they pay no more than 110p and probably a bit less. | bigface
11/10/2004 22:20 | Thanks for this Bigface seems sound thinking to me, its been a long ride so far, may as well stay on board till the fat lady sings ! | caribbean
10/10/2004 19:51 | Golden parachute more like. All this is inevitable and is probably deliberate manipulation. At the end of the day the shareholders will decide not Bauger and the management. It may be that, if the two Billy's, are happy to do a cheap deal (and I doubt they are so devious) then Malcolm Walker may be asked to step in by the institutions. If Malcolm wants to run part of iceland for 200m then why not have the lot for 375m? He would have no problem in raising the money. I think all this is manipulative speculation and Bauger will offer 105-107 & win BFG, but then that has been my view all along. I wouldn't accept 95-100p and, neither will (in my opinion) the major shareholders. Be nice if Asda popped up and bought the lot out of a days turnover wouln't it. That way they could build a portfolio of stores to compete with Tesco Metro and kill off any competition from Bauger group. I am getting a bit tired of missing other opportunities, but that is what the delay is all about - boring us into submission. Note there is no big sellers despite the "reduced bid news" | bigface
10/10/2004 19:03 | The golden handshake sounds about right, Grimsy sounded like a man in a hurry when he recommended the 110p (cynical I know !) | caribbean
10/10/2004 18:36 | Not sure yet | bigface
10/10/2004 15:43 | Whats the thinking on the Observer reports of the 10th ? | caribbean
10/10/2004 13:22 | I don't think so - Bauger doing due diligence and is expexted to bid 110p a share with the aggreement of the board. There is talk of a possible break-up of the group with Malcolm Walker taking 500 Iceland stores? I this good for you expert363? | bigface
10/10/2004 12:14 | been on holiday for the last 2 weeks have i missed anything important regarding poss takeover deal? | expert363
09/10/2004 22:20 | thanks Bigface ... feel a little assured! | chaudr
09/10/2004 11:43 | I think anything is possible, but you may be worrying too much chauder. Bauger has been considering his move (if not planning it) for 2 years is a supportive holder of the stock and is in no way hostile in this instance. The Board won't recommend a cheap deal because their recovery plan is only partly complete. Bauger knows the sales figures to middle of September (as we all do) - a couple nore weeks wil be revealed shortly. This will add little to his decision making process. Note that sales to 31103 were excellent which is mainily why 2004 will be relatively poor. Bauger knows that - a smart man who is bidding at exactly the right time. Look how the share price of Iceland reacted Oct to Dec 2003. Won't be long now if you can stand the tension. | bigface
09/10/2004 11:26 | Factsonly So it's possible that if Bauger hasn't seen the latest data ... and the data turns out to be a nasty shock .... Bauger will be thinking let's see how far the share price drops before I make an offer? | chaudr
08/10/2004 13:19 | You never really know what game they are playing, but remember that while sales may be lower than this time last year (and for many reasons) the CEO has stated in a fairly supportive article in the FT (prior to Baughers Bid) that any fall in sale is "mitigated" by improving margins & cost cutting. I think you will find Bauger will bid up to a fair and supportive price for the Company, get Malcolm Walker and the current board fully behind him, then use BF G to build his empire further still. The price is where it was before the bid at 110p was mooted. I have added another 15% to my holding since the indicative bid and happy with that. | bigface
08/10/2004 13:05 | factsonly - I have been monitoring since the article in press suggesting that trade is currently dire and expectactions are for a very poor trading statement. General opinion was that Bauger would wait until after the drop from a poor trading statement to make their move. the reservation about offering a lower price gives them the back out clause based on how the market will react to current trading. I would normally be quite bullish with the indicative interest already there, but the recent markdown of the price to over 10% below bid price speaks volumes..... | clemenm7
08/10/2004 11:01 | Hmm, interesting situation. I don't think we're going to hear anything until after the results... I'm sure Bauger will want to digest latest figures before parting with their cash. The only item I am unclear about is whether or not they are privy to recent sales data... if they are, then they will won't be alowed to make a bid until after the results. If they aren't then, they might wait another week before bidding. Only problem with that is that the results have a lot of room for good surprises and they risk having to pay even more to keep shareholders' backing. | factsonly
08/10/2004 07:30 | yeah me too | chaudr
07/10/2004 22:05 | I think they will show solidarity and present the results at the same time as announcing the deal. The figures may way have a little more detail than the usual trading statement too. Still optimistic and holding all my stock. | bigface
07/10/2004 21:30 | Will we hear from Bauger before Wednesday do you reckon? | chaudr
07/10/2004 17:31 | fatman It's there, best always type in the epic when you want info on a stock. Keep Crowing | old crow
