He's had 2 years to plan the capital arrangements - patience is a virtue.

old crow - the deal might be 110p, but bauger knows that they are getting it on the cheap and so want to make sure there are no "no" votes... an extra dividend doesn't do itself much harm given it will be one of the largest recipients. By waiting to seal the deal after the next xd/record date, it would give it more time to raise capital (ie disposal of other assets) and more time to iron out any internal BFP issues prior to paying up.

Slightly lower than 110p would be my feeling, but factsonlt may be right if there is another biider waiting for Bauger to show his hand first.

Agree Old Crow.

Is it unlikely that there is anybody else interested in joining the bidding or is it a little late to be expressing interest now.

The mind spins, why would buagar offer more than 110
when BFP said it would accept 110.
Please educate us all.

I think it's still too early for due diligence to be finished yet. If they have, then they probably still need some time to negotiate over price and asset valuations. I don't know why, but I have a niggling feeling the bid will be above 110p set by the management as a minimum acceptance level. Probably 110p plus the next dividend.

My thought on the silence at present is that it doesn't take long to say no we could be in for a yes but......

Bauger probably won't risk too much more delay as we will be into another trading period and if sales do recover the current low price could be blocked.

I think this is an opportunity to buy 5bn of turnover very cheaply and bauger is best placed to take it.

I think he wants it and the management appear to want it too. If 110p is enough for us then it will go through. My judgement is that this will go through to Bauger soon, but there may be some fun yet.

I thought that there hasn't been an offer yet... and that the 110p was the minimum price that mgt would accept. The current price simply reflects the uncertainty of a deal occurring. Only a small % of deals carry through... however, given the large holding Baugar already has... odds are slightly higher than average of it occurring.

Yesterday's trading, short covering or buying ahead of the bid? Bought 20k at 95.25 all in. Going to ride to 103p at least.

Re 250k order. Looking at level2, there's currently over 250k on offer at 98p and below, so it would cost about £245,000 if you wanted to buy real shares.
Alternatively, you could go long via Spreadbet at £2500 per point with a £12,250 margin deposit.
Either way if you want the exposure it's available right now, no waiting or shortage of stock, dyor

Nice to see a little firming in the price. Would love to think smoke signals beginning to emanate and that the offer will fully materialise.

Bigface: are you nervous about the gap between possible bid price and current price. Current price seems to drift abit day by day.

Yes its pretty tight. Couldn't get a price for 250K

its interesting that this has drifted down with a potential 110p bid on the table. makes me think its not going to meet initial estimates.....

anyone else think why its drifting down (bid value is currently 16% above the price) this doesnt happen if belief is that the bid will go through....

SOF arn't too bad are they? up 1.1% overall. Not stunning but better that some?

Point taken though. It is just my long run prediction that sof & bfp will merge and this explains the rise and fall of BFP & SOF respectively

U holding any of these two.

Bigface - Don't want to state the obvious, but maybe SOF are falling because of poor sales and no one is going to bid for them in the short/medium term.
